1
I am the ish who has seen affliction under the rod of His wrath.
2
He drove me and made me walk in darkness and not in light.
3
Against me He turns His hand again and again through the day.
4
He wore away my flesh and skin and broke my bones.
5
He built against me and surrounded me with bitterness and hardship.
6
He made me dwell in dark places like those long dead.
7
He walled me in and made my chain heavy.
8
Even when I cry for help, He shuts out my prayer.
9
He blocked my ways with hewn stone and made my paths crooked.
10
He became to me like a bear lying in wait and a lion in hidden places.
11
He turned aside my ways, tore me apart, and made me desolate.
12
He bent His bow and set me as the target.
13
He caused the sons of His quiver to enter my inward parts.
14
I became laughter to my people and their song all the day.
15
He filled me with bitterness and saturated me with wormwood.
16
He broke my teeth with gravel and pressed me into ashes.
17
My being was removed from shalom and I forgot what good was.
18
I said, My strength and my hope from Yahuah have perished.
19
Remember my affliction and wandering, the wormwood and bitterness.
20
Remembering, my being remembers and bows down within me.
21
This I return to my heart, and therefore I have hope.
22
The Covenant-Faithfulness of Yahuah has not ceased; His compassions have not ended.
23
They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
24
Yahuah is my portion, says my being; therefore I shall wait for Him.
25
Yahuah is good to those who wait for Him, to the being who seeks Him.
26
It is good to wait silently for the salvation of Yahuah.
27
It is good for an ish to bear the yoke in his youth.
28
Let him sit alone and remain silent because it has been laid upon him.
29
Let him put his mouth in the dust; perhaps there is hope.
30
Let him give his cheek to the one who strikes him and be filled with reproach.
31
For Yahuah will not reject forever.
32
Though He causes grief, He will show compassion according to His abundant Covenant-Faithfulness.
33
He does not afflict from His heart nor grieve the sons of Adam.
34
He does not approve crushing all the prisoners of the earth beneath the feet.
35
He does not approve turning aside the Judgment of an ish before the face of El Elyon.
36
He does not approve twisting an Adam in his controversy.
37
Who speaks and it comes to pass unless Yahuah commanded it?
38
Is it not from the mouth of El Elyon that both evil and good go forth?
39
Why should a living Adam complain, an ish because of his sins?
40
Let us search and examine our ways and return to Yahuah.
41
Let us lift our hearts and hands to El in the heavens.
42
We transgressed and rebelled, and You did not forgive.
43
You covered Yourself with anger, pursued us, killed, and did not spare.
44
You covered Yourself with a cloud so prayer could not pass through.
45
You made us filth and refuse among the peoples.
46
All our enemies opened their mouths against us.
47
Fear, pitfall, desolation, and destruction came upon us.
48
Streams of water run down from my eyes because of the destruction of the daughter of my people.
49
My eye pours down and does not cease.
50
It continues until Yahuah looks down and sees from the heavens.
51
My eye afflicts my being because of all the daughters of my city.
52
My enemies hunted me like a bird without cause.
53
They cut off my life in the pit and cast a stone upon me.
54
Waters flowed over my head and I said, I am cut off.
55
I called upon Your Name, Yahuah, from the depths of the pit.
56
You heard my voice; do not hide Your ear from my breathing and cry for help.
57
You drew near on the day I called and said, Do not fear.
58
Yahuah, You pleaded the controversies of my being and redeemed my life.
59
You have seen the wrong done to me; judge my Judgment.
60
You have seen all their vengeance and schemes against me.
61
You have heard their reproach, Yahuah, and all their schemes.
62
You have heard the lips of those rising against me and their murmuring all the day.
63
Look at their sitting and rising; I am their mocking song.
64
Return to them repayment, Yahuah, according to the work of their hands.
65
Give them hardness of heart; may Your curse be upon them.
66
Pursue them in anger and destroy them from beneath the heavens of Yahuah.
