Book 2 — Chapter 26 — The Final War between the Yehudim and Rome Begins
Eusebius closes Book II by moving toward the revolt that will dominate the opening of Book III. Nero's reign sees the accumulating violence, governmental abuse, factionalism, prophetic movements, and armed resistance that finally produce open war with Rome. Florus's conduct in Yehudah is especially destructive, and revolt spreads. Eusebius interprets the war as the culminating judgment he has repeatedly anticipated since Book I. His historical narrative now shifts from the apostolic mission back to Yosephus's detailed record of siege, famine, civil conflict, and the destruction of Yerushalayim. END BOOK II
