Book 7 — Chapter 8 - The Teaching of Novatus
Book VII follows Dionysius of Alexandria through disputes over washing converts, Valerian's persecution, Gallienus's peace, the Apocalypse debate, Paulos of Samosata, and the emergence of the Manichaean movement. Eusebius presents the movement polemically as deviation from the teaching he regards as received. HaSefarim preserves his accusation as Eusebius's report and keeps separate the historical fact that competing early communities often described one another through adversarial labels. In this reconstruction the chapter coordinate is preserved as Book 7, Chapter 8, and the full subject is retained under the heading 'The Teaching of Novatus'. Names, dates, quoted-source relationships, and political or textual function are kept distinct from Eusebius's own interpretive claims.
