Book 8 — Chapter 6 - Those in the Imperial Palace
Book VIII is Eusebius's eyewitness generation: the Great Persecution, destruction of meeting houses, imprisonment, torture, martyrdom, political reversals, and the first imperial revocation. A major feature of the chapter is documentary: Eusebius transmits, summarizes, or frames a letter, decree, or other writing because he wants the reader to see the institutional record rather than rely on his narration alone. In this reconstruction the chapter coordinate is preserved as Book 8, Chapter 6, and the full subject is retained under the heading 'Those in the Imperial Palace'. Names, dates, quoted-source relationships, and political or textual function are kept distinct from Eusebius's own interpretive claims.
