1
On that day Toviyt remembered the silver that he had deposited with Gavay’el at Rages in Media.
2
And he said within himself: “I asked for death. Why do I not call Toviyah my son and tell him concerning the silver before I die?”
3
And he called Toviyah his son, and he came to him. And Toviyt said: “My son, when I die, bury me properly. And honor your mother. Do not forsake her all the days of her life. Do what is pleasing in her sight, and do not grieve her ruach in anything.
4
Remember, my son, that she saw many dangers for you while you were in her womb. And when she dies, bury her beside me in one grave.
5
My son, remember Yahuah our Elohim all your days. Do not desire to sin or to transgress His commandments. Do Righteousness all the days of your life, and do not walk in the ways of crookedness.
6
For if you deal in truth, your works shall prosper for you, and for all those who do Righteousness.
7
Give from what you possess in righteousness. And when you give, do not let your eye be envious. Do not turn your face away from any poor ish, and the face of Elohim shall not be turned away from you.
8
If you have abundance, give according to the abundance. And if you have little, do not be afraid to give according to the little.
9
For you store up for yourself a good treasure for the day of distress.
10
For righteousness delivers from death and does not permit one to enter into darkness.
11
Righteous giving is a good offering before El Elyon for all who practice it.
12
Guard yourself, my son, from every act of sexual uncleanness. And first of all take an ishah from the seed of your fathers. Do not take a foreign ishah who is not from the tribe of your father, for we are sons of the prophets. Remember, my son, Noach, Avraham, Yitzchaq, and Yaaqov, our fathers from ancient days. All of them took wives from among their own brothers, and they were blessed in their children, and their seed shall inherit the land.
13
And now, my son, love your brothers. Do not exalt yourself in your heart over your brothers, nor over the sons and daughters of your people, so as to refuse taking an ishah from among them. For in pride is destruction and great disorder, and in worthlessness is loss and great poverty, for worthlessness is the mother of famine.
14
Do not allow the wages of any ish who works for you to remain with you overnight. Pay him immediately. And if you serve Elohim, you shall be repaid. Guard yourself, my son, in all your works, and be disciplined in all your conduct.
15
And what you hate, do not do to another. Do not drink wine to drunkenness, and do not let drunkenness walk with you on your way.
16
Give from your bread to the hungry, and from your garments to the naked. From whatever you have in abundance, give in righteousness, and do not let your eye be envious when you give.
17
Pour out your bread upon the burial of the righteous, but give nothing to the crooked.
18
Seek counsel from every wise ish, and do not despise any profitable counsel.
19
At all times bless Yahuah your Elohim, and ask Him that your ways may be straight and that all your paths and counsels may prosper. For no nation possesses counsel within itself, but Yahuah Himself gives every good thing, and whom He wills He humbles according to His will. And now, my son, remember my commandments, and do not let them be erased from your heart.
20
And now I make known to you concerning the ten talents of silver that I deposited with Gavay’el son of Gavri at Rages in Media.
21
Do not fear, my son, because we have become poor. You possess great wealth if you fear Elohim, turn away from every sin, and do what is good before Yahuah your Elohim.”
