1
Then Shəlomah said, “Yahuah said He would dwell in thick darkness.
2
But I have built for You a House of exaltation, an established place for Your dwelling through all ages.”
3
And the king turned his face and blessed the whole assembly of Yisra’el, while all the assembly of Yisra’el stood.
4
And he said, “Blessed is Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el, who spoke with His mouth to Daviyd my father and fulfilled it with His hands, saying:
5
‘From the day I brought My people out from the land of Mitzrayim, I chose no city from all the tribes of Yisra’el in which to build a House for My Name to be there; neither did I choose an ish to be ruler over My people Yisra’el.
6
But I chose Yerushalayim for My Name to be there, and I chose Daviyd to be over My people Yisra’el.’
7
And it was within the heart of Daviyd my father to build a House for the Name of Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el.
8
But Yahuah said to Daviyd my father, ‘Because it was within your heart to build a House for My Name, you did well that this was within your heart.
9
Nevertheless, you shall not build the House; but your son who comes out from your loins, he shall build the House for My Name.’
10
And Yahuah established His word that He spoke, for I have risen in the place of Daviyd my father and sit upon the throne of Yisra’el, as Yahuah spoke, and I have built the House for the Name of Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el.
11
And there I have placed the Ark, in which is the Covenant of Yahuah that He cut with the children of Yisra’el.”
12
And he stood before the altar of Yahuah, before the whole assembly of Yisra’el, and spread out his palms.
13
For Shəlomah had made a bronze platform, five cubits long, five cubits wide, and three cubits high, and had placed it in the midst of the court. He stood upon it, knelt upon his knees before the whole assembly of Yisra’el, and spread out his palms toward the heavens.
14
And he said, “Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el, there is no Elohim like You in the heavens or upon the earth, guarding the Covenant and covenant-kindness with Your servants who walk before You with all their heart;
15
You who guarded for Your servant Daviyd my father what You spoke to him. You spoke with Your mouth and fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day.
16
And now, Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el, guard for Your servant Daviyd my father what You spoke to him, saying, ‘An ish shall not be cut off from you before My face, sitting upon the throne of Yisra’el, if only your sons guard their way, to walk in My Torah as you have walked before Me.’
17
And now, Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el, let Your word be established, which You spoke to Your servant Daviyd.
18
But will Elohim truly dwell with Adam upon the earth? See, the heavens and the heavens of heavens cannot contain You—how much less this House that I have built!
19
Yet turn toward the prayer of Your servant and toward his supplication, Yahuah my Elohim, to hear the cry and the prayer Your servant prays before You;
20
that Your eyes may be open toward this House day and night, toward the place of which You said Your Name would be set there, to hear the prayer Your servant prays toward this place.
21
Hear the supplications of Your servant and of Your people Yisra’el when they pray toward this place. Hear from the place of Your dwelling, from the heavens; and when You hear, forgive.
22
If an ish sins against his companion and an oath is laid upon him, and he comes and swears before Your altar in this House,
23
then hear from the heavens, act, and judge Your servants: returning the way of the wicked upon his own head, and declaring the righteous righteous, giving to him according to his righteousness.
24
If Your people Yisra’el are struck before an enemy because they have sinned against You, and they return and confess Your Name, and pray and make supplication before You in this House,
25
then hear from the heavens, forgive the sin of Your people Yisra’el, and return them to the land You gave to them and to their fathers.
26
When the heavens are restrained and there is no rain because they have sinned against You, and they pray toward this place, confess Your Name, and turn from their sin when You humble them,
27
then hear from the heavens and forgive the sin of Your servants and Your people Yisra’el, teaching them the good way in which they should walk; and give rain upon Your land, which You gave to Your people as an inheritance.
28
If there is famine in the land; if there is pestilence, blight, mildew, locust, or devouring locust; if their enemies besiege them in the land at their gates; whatever plague or sickness there may be;
29
whatever prayer or supplication is made by any Adam or by all Your people Yisra’el, each knowing his own plague and pain and spreading his palms toward this House,
30
then hear from the heavens, the established place of Your dwelling; forgive, act, and give to every ish according to all his ways, whose heart You know—for You alone know the heart of the children of Adam—
31
so that they may fear You and walk in Your ways all the days they live upon the face of the land You gave to our fathers.
32
And also concerning the foreigner who is not from Your people Yisra’el, but comes from a distant land because of Your great Name, Your strong hand, and Your outstretched arm—when they come and pray toward this House,
33
then hear from the heavens, from the established place of Your dwelling, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You, so that all peoples of the earth may know Your Name and fear You as Your people Yisra’el do, and may know that Your Name is called upon this House I have built.
34
When Your people go out to battle against their enemies by the way You send them, and they pray to You toward this city You have chosen and the House I have built for Your Name,
35
then hear from the heavens their prayer and supplication, and do their judgment.
36
When they sin against You—for there is no Adam who does not sin—and You become angry with them and give them before an enemy, and their captors carry them captive to a land distant or near;
37
and they return to their heart in the land where they were taken captive, turn back, and make supplication to You in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned; we have acted crookedly and wickedly’;
38
and they return to You with all their heart and with all their being in the land of their captivity where they were carried captive, and pray toward their land You gave to their fathers, the city You chose, and the House I built for Your Name,
39
then hear from the heavens, from the established place of Your dwelling, their prayer and supplications; do their judgment, and forgive Your people who have sinned against You.
40
Now, my Elohim, let Your eyes be open and Your ears attentive to the prayer of this place.
41
And now arise, Yahuah Elohim, into Your resting place, You and the Ark of Your strength. Let Your kohenim, Yahuah Elohim, be clothed with deliverance, and let Your faithful ones rejoice in goodness.
42
Yahuah Elohim, do not turn away the face of Your anointed; remember the covenant-kindnesses of Daviyd Your servant.”
