1
And when Shəlomah finished praying, fire came down from the heavens and consumed the ascending offering and the sacrifices; and the Splendor of Yahuah filled the House.
2
And the kohenim could not enter the House of Yahuah, because the Splendor of Yahuah filled the House of Yahuah.
3
And all the children of Yisra’el saw the fire come down and the Splendor of Yahuah upon the House; and they bowed with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, bowed themselves, and thanked Yahuah, saying, “For He is good; for His covenant-kindness endures through all ages.”
4
Then the king and all the people sacrificed sacrifices before Yahuah.
5
And King Shəlomah sacrificed twenty-two thousand cattle and one hundred twenty thousand sheep. Thus the king and all the people dedicated the House of Elohim.
6
And the kohenim stood at their appointed services, and the Leviyim with the instruments of song to Yahuah, which King Daviyd had made for giving thanks to Yahuah—“For His covenant-kindness endures through all ages”—whenever Daviyd praised by their hand. And the kohenim sounded trumpets opposite them, while all Yisra’el stood.
7
And Shəlomah set apart the middle of the court before the House of Yahuah, for there he offered the ascending offerings and the fat of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar Shəlomah had made could not contain the ascending offering, the grain offering, and the fat.
8
And Shəlomah kept the feast at that time for seven days, and all Yisra’el with him—a very great assembly, from the entrance of Chamat to the wadi of Mitzrayim.
9
And on the eighth day they held a solemn assembly, for they had kept the dedication of the altar seven days and the feast seven days.
10
On the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people to their tents, rejoicing and good of heart because of the goodness Yahuah had done for Daviyd, for Shəlomah, and for Yisra’el His people.
11
Thus Shəlomah completed the House of Yahuah and the king’s house; and all that came upon Shəlomah’s heart to make in the House of Yahuah and in his own house, he brought to completion.
12
And Yahuah appeared to Shəlomah by night and said to him, “I have heard your prayer, and I have chosen this place for Myself as a House of sacrifice.
13
If I restrain the heavens and there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people,
14
and My people upon whom My Name is called humble themselves, pray, seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I Myself shall hear from the heavens, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
15
Now My eyes shall be open and My ears attentive to the prayer of this place.
16
For now I have chosen and set apart this House, that My Name may be there through all ages; and My eyes and My heart shall be there all days.
17
And as for you, if you walk before Me as Daviyd your father walked, doing according to all I commanded you, and guard My statutes and My judgments,
18
then I shall establish the throne of your kingdom, as I cut Covenant with Daviyd your father, saying, ‘An ish ruling in Yisra’el shall not be cut off from you.’
19
But if you turn away and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I set before you, and go and serve other powers and bow to them,
20
then I shall uproot them from upon My ground which I gave them; and this House which I set apart for My Name I shall cast away from before My face, and I shall make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.
21
And this House, which was exalted, shall be an astonishment to everyone passing by it, and they shall say, ‘Why has Yahuah done thus to this land and to this House?’
22
And they shall say, ‘Because they forsook Yahuah, Elohim of their fathers, who brought them out from the land of Mitzrayim, and they seized other powers, bowed to them, and served them. Therefore He brought all this evil upon them.’”
