1
And it came to pass on the following day: behold, the army of the Kasdiyim surrounded the city. At evening I, Baruk, left the people, went out, and stood by the oak.
2
I grieved over Tziyon and groaned over the captivity that had come upon the people.
3
And behold, suddenly a ruach of power lifted me and carried me above the wall of Yerushalayim.
4
I saw, and behold, four messengers stood over the four corners of the city, each one holding a torch of fire in his hands.
5
Another messenger descended from the heavens and said to them: Hold your torches, and do not kindle them until I tell you.
6
For I was sent first to speak a word to the earth and to deposit with her what Yahuah Elyon commanded me.
7
I saw him descend into the House of the Set-Apart of Set-Apart Things. He took from there the veil, the set-apart ephod, the covering, the two tablets, the set-apart garments of the Kohenim, the incense vessel, the forty-eight precious stones worn by the Kohen, and all the set-apart vessels of the Dwelling.
8
He said to the earth in a raised voice: Earth, earth, earth—hear the Word of the mighty Elohim. Receive what I entrust to you, and preserve these things until the latter times. When you are commanded, restore them, so that foreigners may not rule over them.
9
For the time has arrived when Yerushalayim also shall be delivered up for a time, until it is said that she shall again be established forever.
10
The earth opened her mouth and swallowed them.
