1
Now, my brothers, when the enemies surrounded the city, messengers of Elyon were sent. They overthrew the fortress of the mighty wall and broke the firm corner of iron—things that could not be uprooted.
2
But they concealed the set-apart vessels so that the enemies would not seize them.
3
When they had done these things, they delivered to the enemies the wall overthrown, the House plundered, the Temple burned, and the people conquered because it had been delivered. Thus the enemies could not boast and say, “By battle we were able to destroy even the House of Elyon.”
4
They also bound your brothers, carried them to Bavel, and settled them there.
5
We, a very few, remained here.
6
This is the distress concerning which I wrote to you.
7
For I truly know that Tziyon’s inhabitants comforted you while you knew she prospered, more than the distress by which you were afflicted because you were far from her.
