And Yahuah spoke to Mosheh in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after their departure from the land of Mitzrayim, saying,

“Lift up the head of all the congregation of the sons of Yisra’el, according to their families, according to the houses of their fathers, by the number of names, every male by their heads,

from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to war in Yisra’el. You and Aharon shall count them according to their hosts.
4
And with you there shall be an ish from each tribe, each ish a head of the house of his fathers.
5
And these are the names of the men who shall stand with you: from Reuven, Elitzur son of Shedeur;
6
from Shimon, Shelumiel son of Tzurishaddai;
7
from Yehudah, Nachshon son of Amminadav;
8
from Yissakhar, Netanel son of Tzuar;
9
from Zevulun, Eliav son of Chelon;
10
from the sons of Yosef: from Efrayim, Elishama son of Ammihud; from Menasheh, Gamliel son of Pedatzur;
11
from Binyamin, Avidan son of Gidoni;
12
from Dan, Achiezer son of Ammishaddai;
13
from Asher, Pagiel son of Okhran;
14
from Gad, Elyasaf son of Deuel;
15
from Naftali, Achira son of Enan.”

These were the ones called from the congregation, rulers of the tribes of their fathers, heads of the thousands of Yisra’el.
17
And Mosheh and Aharon took these men who were designated by name.
18
And they gathered all the congregation on the first day of the second month, and they declared their lineage according to their families, according to the houses of their fathers, by the number of names, from twenty years old and above, by their heads,
19
according to what Yahuah commanded Mosheh. And he counted them in the wilderness of Sinai.
20
And the sons of Reuven, firstborn of Yisra’el, their generations according to their families, according to the houses of their fathers, by the number of names, by their heads, every male from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to war,
21
those counted from the tribe of Reuven were forty-six thousand five hundred.
22
From the sons of Shimon, their generations according to their families, according to the houses of their fathers, those counted by the number of names, by their heads, every male from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to war,
23
those counted from the tribe of Shimon were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.
24
From the sons of Gad, their generations according to their families, according to the houses of their fathers, by the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to war,
25
those counted from the tribe of Gad were forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.
26
From the sons of Yehudah, their generations according to their families, according to the houses of their fathers, by the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to war,
27
those counted from the tribe of Yehudah were seventy-four thousand six hundred.
28
From the sons of Yissakhar, their generations according to their families, according to the houses of their fathers, by the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to war,
29
those counted from the tribe of Yissakhar were fifty-four thousand four hundred.
30
From the sons of Zevulun, their generations according to their families, according to the houses of their fathers, by the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to war,
31
those counted from the tribe of Zevulun were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.
32
From the sons of Yosef, from the sons of Efrayim, their generations according to their families, according to the houses of their fathers, by the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to war,
33
those counted from the tribe of Efrayim were forty thousand five hundred.
34
From the sons of Menasheh, their generations according to their families, according to the houses of their fathers, by the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to war,
35
those counted from the tribe of Menasheh were thirty-two thousand two hundred.
36
From the sons of Binyamin, their generations according to their families, according to the houses of their fathers, by the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to war,
37
those counted from the tribe of Binyamin were thirty-five thousand four hundred.
38
From the sons of Dan, their generations according to their families, according to the houses of their fathers, by the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to war,
39
those counted from the tribe of Dan were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.
40
From the sons of Asher, their generations according to their families, according to the houses of their fathers, by the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to war,
41
those counted from the tribe of Asher were forty-one thousand five hundred.
42
From the sons of Naftali, their generations according to their families, according to the houses of their fathers, by the number of names, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to war,
43
those counted from the tribe of Naftali were fifty-three thousand four hundred.
44
These are those who were counted, whom Mosheh and Aharon counted, and the rulers of Yisra’el, twelve men, each ish representing the house of his fathers.
45
And all those counted of the sons of Yisra’el, according to the houses of their fathers, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to war in Yisra’el,
46
all those counted were six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.
47
But the Leviim according to the tribe of their fathers were not counted among them.
48
And Yahuah spoke to Mosheh, saying,
49
“Only the tribe of Levi you shall not count, and you shall not lift up their head among the sons of Yisra’el.
50
But you shall appoint the Leviim over the Dwelling of the Testimony, and over all its vessels, and over all that belongs to it. They shall carry the Dwelling and all its vessels, and they shall serve it, and they shall encamp around the Dwelling.
51
And when the Dwelling is to journey, the Leviim shall take it down; and when the Dwelling is to encamp, the Leviim shall raise it up. And the stranger who draws near shall be put to death.
52
And the sons of Yisra’el shall encamp, each ish by his own camp and each ish by his own banner, according to their hosts.
53
But the Leviim shall encamp around the Dwelling of the Testimony, so that there shall be no wrath upon the congregation of the sons of Yisra’el. And the Leviim shall guard the charge of the Dwelling of the Testimony.”

And the sons of Yisra’el did according to all that Yahuah commanded Mosheh; so they did.
