And these are the generations of Aharon and Mosheh in the day that Yahuah spoke with Mosheh on Mount Sinai.

And these are the names of the sons of Aharon: Nadav the firstborn, and Avihu, Elazar, and Itamar.

These are the names of the sons of Aharon, the anointed kohenim, whose hands were filled to serve as kohenim.
4
And Nadav and Avihu died before Yahuah when they brought near foreign fire before Yahuah in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no sons. And Elazar and Itamar served as kohenim before the face of Aharon their father.

And Yahuah spoke to Mosheh, saying,

“Bring the tribe of Levi near and cause them to stand before Aharon the kohen, that they may serve him.
7
And they shall guard his charge and the charge of all the congregation before the Tent of Meeting, to serve the service of the Dwelling.
8
And they shall guard all the vessels of the Tent of Meeting and the charge of the sons of Yisra’el, to serve the service of the Dwelling.
9
And you shall give the Leviim to Aharon and to his sons. Given, given they are to him from among the sons of Yisra’el.
10
And Aharon and his sons you shall appoint, and they shall guard their kehunah. And the stranger who draws near shall be put to death.”
11
And Yahuah spoke to Mosheh, saying,
12
“And I, see, I have taken the Leviim from the midst of the sons of Yisra’el in place of every firstborn who opens the womb among the sons of Yisra’el. And the Leviim shall be Mine.
13
For every firstborn is Mine. On the day I struck every firstborn in the land of Mitzrayim, I set apart for Myself every firstborn in Yisra’el, from Adam to beast. Mine they shall be. I am Yahuah.”
14
And Yahuah spoke to Mosheh in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,
15
“Count the sons of Levi according to the houses of their fathers, according to their families. Every male from a son of a month and above you shall count them.”
16
And Mosheh counted them by the mouth of Yahuah, according to what he was commanded.
17
And these were the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon, and Qehat, and Merari.
18
And these are the names of the sons of Gershon according to their families: Livni and Shimi.
19
And the sons of Qehat according to their families: Amram, and Yitzhar, Chevron, and Uzziel.
20
And the sons of Merari according to their families: Machli and Mushi. These are the families of Levi according to the houses of their fathers.
21
From Gershon were the family of the Livni and the family of the Shimi. These were the families of the Gershoni.
22
Those counted of them, by the number of every male from a son of a month and above, those counted of them were seven thousand five hundred.
23
The families of the Gershoni shall encamp behind the Dwelling toward the west.
24
And the ruler of the house of the fathers of the Gershoni shall be Elyasaf son of Lael.
25
And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the Tent of Meeting shall be the Dwelling, and the tent, its covering, and the screen for the entrance of the Tent of Meeting,
26
and the hangings of the courtyard, and the screen for the entrance of the courtyard that is around the Dwelling and the altar, and its cords, for all its service.
27
And from Qehat were the family of the Amrami, and the family of the Yitzhari, and the family of the Chevroni, and the family of the Uzzieli. These were the families of the Qehati.
28
By the number of every male from a son of a month and above, there were eight thousand six hundred, guarding the charge of the Holy Place.
29
The families of the sons of Qehat shall encamp along the side of the Dwelling toward the south.
30
And the ruler of the house of the fathers of the families of the Qehati shall be Elitzafan son of Uzziel.
31
And their charge shall be the ark, and the table, and the menorah, and the altars, and the vessels of the Holy Place with which they serve, and the veil, and all its service.
32
And the ruler over the rulers of the Leviim shall be Elazar son of Aharon the kohen, having oversight over those guarding the charge of the Holy Place.
33
From Merari were the family of the Machli and the family of the Mushi. These were the families of Merari.
34
And those counted of them, by the number of every male from a son of a month and above, were six thousand two hundred.
35
And the ruler of the house of the fathers of the families of Merari shall be Tzuriel son of Avichayil. They shall encamp along the side of the Dwelling toward the north.
36
And the appointed charge of the sons of Merari shall be the boards of the Dwelling, and its bars, and its pillars, and its sockets, and all its vessels, and all its service,
37
and the pillars of the courtyard all around, and their sockets, and their pegs, and their cords.
38
And those encamping before the Dwelling toward the east, before the Tent of Meeting toward the sunrise, shall be Mosheh and Aharon and his sons, guarding the charge of the Holy Place for the charge of the sons of Yisra’el. And the stranger who draws near shall be put to death.
39
All those counted of the Leviim, whom Mosheh and Aharon counted by the mouth of Yahuah according to their families, every male from a son of a month and above, were twenty-two thousand.
40
And Yahuah said to Mosheh, “Count every firstborn male of the sons of Yisra’el from a son of a month and above, and lift up the number of their names.
41
And you shall take the Leviim for Me—I am Yahuah—in place of every firstborn among the sons of Yisra’el, and the livestock of the Leviim in place of every firstborn among the livestock of the sons of Yisra’el.”
42
And Mosheh counted, according to what Yahuah commanded him, every firstborn among the sons of Yisra’el.
43
And all the firstborn males by the number of names, from a son of a month and above, according to those counted of them, were twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy-three.
44
And Yahuah spoke to Mosheh, saying,
45
“Take the Leviim in place of every firstborn among the sons of Yisra’el, and the livestock of the Leviim in place of their livestock. And the Leviim shall be Mine. I am Yahuah.
46
And for the redemption of the two hundred and seventy-three firstborn of the sons of Yisra’el who exceed the number of the Leviim,
47
you shall take five sheqels for each head. According to the sheqel of the sanctuary you shall take them; twenty gerah is the sheqel.
48
And you shall give the silver to Aharon and to his sons as the redemption of those who exceed their number.”
49
And Mosheh took the silver of redemption from those who exceeded the ones redeemed by the Leviim.
50
From the firstborn of the sons of Yisra’el he took the silver, one thousand three hundred and sixty-five sheqels, according to the sheqel of the sanctuary.
51
And Mosheh gave the silver of the redeemed to Aharon and to his sons by the mouth of Yahuah, according to what Yahuah had commanded Mosheh.
