1
And Bilam saw that it was good in the eyes of Yahuah to bless Yisra’el, and he did not go as at the other times to seek divinations, but he set his face toward the wilderness.
2
And Bilam lifted up his eyes and saw Yisra’el dwelling according to his tribes, and the Ruach of Elohim came upon him.
3
And he lifted up his proverb and said: “The declaration of Bilam son of Beor, and the declaration of the man whose eye is opened;
4
the declaration of the one who hears the words of El, who sees the vision of Shaddai, falling down, yet having his eyes uncovered:
5
How good are your tents, Yaaqov, your dwellings, Yisra’el!
6
Like valleys they are spread out, like gardens beside a river, like aloes planted by Yahuah, like cedars beside the waters.
7
Water shall flow from his buckets, and his seed shall be in abundant waters. And his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be lifted up.
8
El brought him out from Mitzrayim; like the horns of the wild ox is His strength for him. He shall consume the nations, his adversaries; their bones he shall crush, and with his arrows he shall pierce them.
9
He crouched, he lay down like a lion, and like a lioness—who shall cause him to rise? Blessed is everyone who blesses you, and cursed is everyone who curses you.”
10
And the anger of Balaq burned against Bilam, and he struck his palms together. And Balaq said to Bilam, “To curse my enemies I called you, and see, blessing, you have surely blessed them these three times!
11
And now flee to your place. I said, honoring, I would surely honor you, but see, Yahuah has withheld you from honor.”
12
And Bilam said to Balaq, “Did I not also speak to your messengers whom you sent to me, saying,
13
‘If Balaq gives me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot cross the mouth of Yahuah to do good or evil from my own heart. What Yahuah speaks, that I shall speak’?
14
And now, see, I am going to my people. Come, I will counsel you concerning what this people shall do to your people in the latter days.”
15
And he lifted up his proverb and said: “The declaration of Bilam son of Beor, and the declaration of the man whose eye is opened;
16
the declaration of the one who hears the words of El, and knows the knowledge of Elyon, who sees the vision of Shaddai, falling down, yet having his eyes uncovered:
17
I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star shall tread forth from Yaaqov, and a scepter shall rise from Yisra’el. He shall crush the corners of Moav and break down all the sons of tumult.
18
And Edom shall become a possession, and Seir shall become a possession of his enemies, while Yisra’el does valiantly.
19
And one from Yaaqov shall rule and destroy the survivor from the city.”
20
And he saw Amaleq, and he lifted up his proverb and said: “First among the nations was Amaleq, but his latter end shall be destruction.”
21
And he saw the Qeini, and he lifted up his proverb and said: “Strong is your dwelling place, and your nest is set in the rock.
22
Yet Qayin shall be consumed; how long until Ashur carries you captive?”
23
And he lifted up his proverb and said: “Ah! Who shall live when El appoints this?
24
And ships shall come from the coast of Kittim, and they shall afflict Ashur, and they shall afflict Ever; and he also shall come to destruction.”
25
And Bilam rose and went and returned to his place, and Balaq also went his way.
