1
And all the earth was of one tongue and one speech.
2
And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they settled there.
3
And each one said to his companion, “Come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly.” And brick became for them as stone, and bitumen became for them as mortar.
4
And they said, “Come, let us build for ourselves a city and a tower whose head reaches into the heavens, and let us make for ourselves a name, lest we be scattered over the face of all the earth.”
5
And Yahuah came down to see the city and the tower that the sons of Adam had built.
6
And Yahuah said, “See: they are one people, and one tongue is for all of them, and this is what they have begun to do. And now nothing that they purpose to do will be withheld from them.
7
Come, let Us go down and there confuse their tongue, so that each one will not understand the speech of his companion.”
8
And Yahuah scattered them from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city.
9
Therefore its name was called Bavel, because there Yahuah confused the tongue of all the earth, and from there Yahuah scattered them over the face of all the earth.
10

28
And Haran died before the face of Terach his father, in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Kasdim.
29
And Avram and Nachor took women for themselves. The name of Avram’s ishah was Sarai, and the name of Nachor’s ishah was Milkah, daughter of Haran, the father of Milkah and the father of Yiskah.
30
And Sarai was barren; she had no child.
31
And Terach took Avram his son, and Lot son of Haran, son of his son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, the ishah of Avram his son. And they went out with them from Ur of the Kasdim to go toward the land of Kena’an. And they came as far as Charan and settled there.
32
And the days of Terach were two hundred and five years, and Terach died in Charan.
