1
And it came to pass in the days of Amrafel king of Shinar, Aryokh king of Ellasar, Kedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goyim,
2
that they made war with Bera king of Sedom, Birsha king of Amorah, Shinav king of Admah, Shemever king of Tzevoyim, and the king of Bela, which is Tzoar.
3
All these joined together in the Valley of Siddim, which is the Salt Sea.
4
Twelve years they served Kedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
5
And in the fourteenth year Kedorlaomer came, and the kings who were with him, and they struck the Refaim in Ashterot-Qarnayim, and the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh-Qiryatayim,
6
and the Chori in their mountain, Seir, as far as El-Paran, which is by the wilderness.
7
And they turned back and came to En-Mishpat, which is Qadesh, and struck all the territory of the Amaleqi, and also the Emori who dwelt in Chatzatzon-Tamar.
8
And the king of Sedom went out, and the king of Amorah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Tzevoyim, and the king of Bela, which is Tzoar; and they arranged battle against them in the Valley of Siddim,
9
against Kedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goyim, Amrafel king of Shinar, and Aryokh king of Ellasar: four kings against five.
10
And the Valley of Siddim was full of bitumen pits. And the kings of Sedom and Amorah fled and fell there, and those who remained fled toward the mountain.
11
And they took all the possessions of Sedom and Amorah, and all their food, and went away.
12
And they took Lot, son of Avram’s brother, and his possessions, and went away; and he was dwelling in Sedom.
13
And one who had escaped came and told Avram the Ivri. And he was dwelling by the oaks of Mamre the Emori, brother of Eshkol and brother of Aner; and these were bound in covenant with Avram.
14
And Avram heard that his brother had been taken captive, and he armed his trained men, born within his house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued as far as Dan.
15
And he divided himself against them by night, he and his servants, and struck them, and pursued them as far as Chovah, which is north of Damesheq.
16
And he brought back all the possessions, and he also brought back Lot his brother and his possessions, and also the women and the people.
17
And the king of Sedom went out to meet him after his return from striking Kedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, at the Valley of Shaveh, which is the King’s Valley.
18
And Malki-Tzedeq, king of Shalem, brought out bread and wine. And he was kohen of El Elyon.
19
And he blessed him and said: “Blessed is Avram by El Elyon, Possessor of heavens and earth.
20
And blessed is El Elyon, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” And Avram gave him a tenth from all.
21
And the king of Sedom said to Avram, “Give me the people, and take the possessions for yourself.”
22
And Avram said to the king of Sedom, “I have raised my hand to Yahuah, El Elyon, Possessor of heavens and earth,
23
that I will not take from a thread even to a sandal strap, nor anything that is yours, so that you may not say, ‘I made Avram rich.’
24
Nothing for me, except what the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me—Aner, Eshkol, and Mamre. Let them take their portion.”
