1
And Avram was ninety-nine years old, and Yahuah appeared to Avram and said to him, “I am El Shaddai. Walk before Me and be whole.
2
And I will set My covenant between Me and you, and I will multiply you exceedingly.”
3
And Avram fell upon his face, and Elohim spoke with him, saying,
4
“As for Me—see, My covenant is with you, and you shall become father of a multitude of nations.
5
And your name shall no longer be called Avram, but your name shall be Avraham, because I have made you father of a multitude of nations.
6
And I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations from you, and kings shall come forth from you.
7
And I will establish My covenant between Me and you, and your seed after you throughout their generations, as a perpetual covenant, to be Elohim to you and to your seed after you.
8
And I will give to you, and to your seed after you, the land of your sojournings—all the land of Kena’an—as a perpetual possession; and I will be Elohim to them.”
9
And Elohim said to Avraham, “And you shall guard My covenant—you and your seed after you throughout their generations.
10
This is My covenant that you shall guard, between Me and you and your seed after you: every male among you shall be circumcised.
11
And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and you.
12
And at eight days old every male among you shall be circumcised throughout your generations: one born in the house, and one acquired with silver from any foreigner who is not from your seed.
13
Circumcised, he shall be circumcised—the one born in your house and the one acquired with your silver. And My covenant shall be in your flesh as a perpetual covenant.
14
And an uncircumcised male, who does not circumcise the flesh of his foreskin—that person shall be cut off from his people. He has broken My covenant.”
15
And Elohim said to Avraham, “As for Sarai your ishah, you shall no longer call her name Sarai, because Sarah is her name.
16
And I will bless her, and I will also give you a son from her. And I will bless her, and she shall become nations; kings of peoples shall come from her.”
17
And Avraham fell upon his face and laughed, and said within his heart, “Shall a child be born to one who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bring forth?”
18
And Avraham said to Elohim, “If only Yishma’el might live before You.”
19
And Elohim said, “Truly, Sarah your ishah shall bring forth a son for you, and you shall call his name Yitzchaq. And I will establish My covenant with him as a perpetual covenant, for his seed after him.
20
And concerning Yishma’el, I have heard you. See, I have blessed him, and I will make him fruitful, and I will multiply him exceedingly. Twelve princes shall he bring forth, and I will make him into a great nation.
21
But My covenant I will establish with Yitzchaq, whom Sarah shall bring forth to you at this appointed time in the next year.”
22
And He finished speaking with him, and Elohim ascended from Avraham.
23
And Avraham took Yishma’el his son, and all who were born in his house, and all who had been acquired with his silver—every male among the men of Avraham’s house—and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin on that very day, according to what Elohim had spoken with him.
24
And Avraham was ninety-nine years old when the flesh of his foreskin was circumcised.
25
And Yishma’el his son was thirteen years old when the flesh of his foreskin was circumcised.
26
On that very day Avraham was circumcised, and Yishma’el his son.
27
And all the men of his house—those born in the house and those acquired with silver from a foreigner—were circumcised with him.
