1
And Yahushua, full of Holy Ruach, returned from the Yarden and was led by the Ruach in the wilderness,
2
being tested forty days by the adversary. And he ate nothing in those days. And when they were completed, he was hungry.
3
And the adversary said to him: “If you are Son of Elohim, say to this stone that it become bread.”
4
And Yahushua answered him: “It is written: ‘Adam shall not live by bread alone.’”
5
And taking him up, the adversary showed him all the kingdoms of the inhabited land in a moment of time.
6
And the adversary said to him: “To you I shall give all this authority and their glory, because it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I desire.
7
Therefore, if you bow before me, it shall all be yours.”
8
And Yahushua answered and said to him: “It is written: ‘You shall bow before Yahuah your Elohim, and Him alone you shall serve.’”
9
And he brought him to Yerushalayim, stood him upon the highest point of the House, and said to him: “If you are Son of Elohim, cast yourself down from here.
10
For it is written: ‘He shall command His messengers concerning you, to guard you,’
11
and: ‘Upon their hands they shall lift you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”
12
And Yahushua answered and said to him: “It has been said: ‘You shall not test Yahuah your Elohim.’”
13
And when the adversary had completed every testing, he departed from him until an appointed time.
14
And Yahushua returned in the power of the Ruach into Galil. And a report concerning him went out through all the surrounding region.
15
And he taught in their synagogues, being honored by all.
16
And he came to Natzaret, where he had been raised. And according to his custom, he entered the synagogue on the day of Shabbat and stood up to read.
17
And the sefer of the prophet Yeshayahu was given to him. And opening the sefer, he found the place where it was written:
18
“The Ruach of Yahuah is upon me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to send away the oppressed in freedom,
19
to proclaim the acceptable year of Yahuah.”
20
And rolling up the sefer, he gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon him.
21
And he began to say to them: “Today this writing has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
22
And all testified concerning him and marveled at the words of favor coming from his mouth. And they said: “Is this not the son of Yoseph?”
23
And he said to them: “You shall certainly say to me this proverb: ‘Physician, restore yourself. Whatever we heard happened in Kefar-Nachum, do also here in your own region.’”
24
And he said: “Truly I tell you: no prophet is accepted in his own region.
25
But in truth I tell you: there were many widows in Yisra’el in the days of Eliyahu, when the heavens were shut three years and six months, when a great famine came upon all the land.
26
Yet Eliyahu was sent to none of them, but only to Tzarefat in the region of Tzidon, to an ishah who was a widow.
27
And there were many with tzara’at in Yisra’el in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet none of them was cleansed except Na’aman the Arami.”
28
And all those in the synagogue were filled with anger when they heard these things.
29
And they rose, drove him outside the city, and led him to the brow of the hill upon which their city had been built, so that they might throw him down.
30
But passing through their midst, he went away.
31
And he went down to Kefar-Nachum, a city of Galil, and was teaching them on the Shabbatot.
32
And they were astonished at his teaching, because his word was with authority.
33
And in the synagogue there was an ish having a ruach of an unclean spirit. And he cried out with a great voice:
34
“Leave us. What is there between us and you, Yahushua the Natzri? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are— the Holy One of Elohim.”
35
And Yahushua rebuked it, saying: “Be silent. And come out from him.” And throwing the ish down in their midst, the ruach came out from him without injuring him.
36
And astonishment came upon all, and they spoke with one another, saying: “What word is this? For with authority and power he commands the unclean ruachot, and they come out.”
37
And a report concerning him went out into every place of the surrounding region.
38
And rising from the synagogue, he entered the house of Shim’on. And the mother of Shim’on’s ishah was suffering with a severe fever. And they petitioned him concerning her.
39
And standing over her, he rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she rose and served them.
40
And when the sun was setting, all those who had people suffering from various illnesses brought them to him. And laying his hands upon each one of them, he restored them.
41
And unclean ruachot also came out from many, crying out and saying: “You are the Son of Elohim.” And rebuking them, he would not permit them to speak, because they knew that he was the Anointed.
42
And when day came, he went out and departed to a deserted place. And the crowds were seeking him and came to him, and were trying to keep him from going away from them.
43
But he said to them: “I must proclaim the Besorah of the Kingdom of Elohim to the other cities also, because for this I was sent.”
44
And he continued proclaiming in the synagogues of Yehudah.
