1
Then Perushim and scribes came to Yahushua from Yerushalayim, saying:
2
“Why do your talmidim transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”
3
But he answered and said to them: “And why do you transgress the commandment of Elohim because of your tradition?
4
For Elohim said: ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and: ‘Whoever curses father or mother shall surely be put to death.’
5
But you say: ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever support you would have received from me has been set apart as an offering,”
6
he no longer has to honor his father or his mother.’ And you have made the Word of Elohim without effect because of your tradition.
7
Hypocrites. Yeshayahu prophesied well concerning you, saying:
8
‘This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.
9
And in vain they worship Me, teaching as commands the instructions of Adam.’”
10
And calling the crowd near, he said to them: “Hear and understand.
11
It is not what enters the mouth that makes an Adam unclean. But what comes out from the mouth— this is what makes an Adam unclean.”
12
Then the talmidim came near and said to him: “Do you know that the Perushim, when they heard this word, were offended?”
13
But he answered and said: “Every plant which my Father in the heavens did not plant shall be uprooted.
14
Leave them. They are blind guides of the blind. And if the blind guides the blind, both shall fall into a pit.”
15
And Kepha answered and said to him: “Explain this parable to us.”
16
And Yahushua said: “Are you also still without understanding?
17
Do you not understand that everything entering the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled from the body?
18
But the things coming out from the mouth come forth from the heart, and these make an Adam unclean.
19
For from the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual misconduct, thefts, false testimonies, and blasphemies.
20
These are the things that make an Adam unclean. But eating with unwashed hands does not make an Adam unclean.”
21
And Yahushua went out from there and withdrew into the territories of Tzor and Tzidon.
22
And see— a Kena’ani ishah from that region came out and cried to him, saying: “Have compassion on me, Master, Son of Daviyd. My daughter is severely afflicted by an unclean ruach.”
23
But he did not answer her a word. And his talmidim came near and urged him, saying: “Send her away, for she keeps crying behind us.”
24
But he answered and said: “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the House of Yisra’el.”
25
But she came and bowed herself before him, saying: “Master, help me.”
26
And he answered and said: “It is not good to take the children’s bread and cast it to the little dogs.”
27
But she said: “Yes, Master. Yet even the little dogs eat from the crumbs that fall from the table of their masters.”
28
Then Yahushua answered and said to her: “O ishah, great is your trust. Let it be for you as you desire.” And her daughter was restored from that hour.
29
And Yahushua departed from there and came near the Sea of Galil. And going up onto the mountain, he sat there.
30
And great crowds came to him, having with them the lame, the blind, those with damaged limbs, those unable to speak, and many others. And they laid them at his feet, and he restored them.
31
So that the crowd marveled when they saw those unable to speak speaking, those with damaged limbs made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. And they glorified the Elohim of Yisra’el.
32
And Yahushua called his talmidim near and said: “I have compassion on the crowd, because they have already remained with me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not desire to send them away fasting, lest they collapse on the road.”
33
And his talmidim said to him: “From where in this deserted place shall we obtain enough bread to satisfy so great a crowd?”
34
And Yahushua said to them: “How many loaves do you have?” And they said: “Seven, and a few small fish.”
35
And he commanded the crowd to recline upon the ground.
36
And taking the seven loaves and the fish, he gave thanks, broke them, and gave them to the talmidim, and the talmidim to the crowds.
37
And they all ate and were satisfied. And they gathered what remained of the broken pieces— seven full baskets.
38
And those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
39
And after dismissing the crowds, he entered the boat and came into the territory of Magadan.
