1
“For the Kingdom of the heavens is like an ish, master of a house, who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.
2
And after agreeing with the workers for one denarius for the day, he sent them into his vineyard.
3
And going out about the third hour, he saw others standing idle in the marketplace.
4
And he said to them: ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I shall give you.’ And they went.
5
And again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour and did likewise.
6
And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing there. And he said to them: ‘Why have you stood here all day idle?’
7
They said to him: ‘Because no one hired us.’ He said to them: ‘You also go into the vineyard.’
8
And when evening came, the master of the vineyard said to his steward: ‘Call the workers and give them their wages, beginning from the last until the first.’
9
And those who came at the eleventh hour received one denarius each.
10
And when the first came, they thought they would receive more. But they also received one denarius each.
11
And receiving it, they murmured against the master of the house,
12
saying: ‘These last worked one hour, and you made them equal to us who carried the burden of the day and the burning heat.’
13
But he answered one of them and said: ‘Friend, I am not wronging you. Did you not agree with me for one denarius?
14
Take what is yours and go. I desire to give to this last the same as to you.
15
Is it not permitted for me to do what I desire with what belongs to me? Or is your eye evil because I am good?’
16
So the last shall be first, and the first last.”
17
And as Yahushua was going up to Yerushalayim, he took the twelve talmidim aside by themselves on the road and said to them:
18
“See— we are going up to Yerushalayim, and the Son of Adam shall be handed over to the chief kohenim and the scribes. And they shall condemn him to death.
19
And they shall hand him over to the nations to mock, and beat, and execute upon a stake. And on the third day he shall be raised.”
20
Then the mother of the sons of Zavdai came near to him with her sons, bowing herself and asking something from him.
21
And he said to her: “What do you desire?” She said to him: “Say that these two sons of mine may sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your Kingdom.”
22
But Yahushua answered and said: “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup which I am about to drink?” They said to him: “We are able.”
23
He said to them: “My cup you shall indeed drink. But to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to give, except to those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.”
24
And when the ten heard this, they became angry with the two brothers.
25
But Yahushua called them near and said: “You know that the rulers of the nations dominate them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.
26
It shall not be this way among you. But whoever desires to become great among you shall become your servant.
27
And whoever desires to be first among you shall become your servant.
28
Just as the Son of Adam did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as the price of release for many.”
29
And as they went out from Yericho, a great crowd followed him.
30
And see— two blind men sitting beside the road, hearing that Yahushua was passing by, cried out, saying: “Master, Son of Daviyd, have compassion on us.”
31
And the crowd rebuked them so that they would be silent. But they cried out even more, saying: “Master, Son of Daviyd, have compassion on us.”
32
And Yahushua stopped, called them, and said: “What do you desire that I do for you?”
33
They said to him: “Master, that our eyes may be opened.”
34
And Yahushua, moved with compassion, touched their eyes. And immediately they received sight and followed him.
