[Pages 11-14 are lost. The surviving text resumes in the middle of the soul's ascent.] Desire says to the soul: I did not see you descend, yet now I see you ascending. Why do you speak falsely, since you belong to me?

The soul answers: I saw you, but you did not see me or truly know me. What you recognized was the garment I wore; you did not recognize me.

Having said this, the soul went away rejoicing.

It came again to the third Power, called Ignorance.

Ignorance examined the soul and said: Where are you going? You are bound in wickedness. Because you are bound, do not judge.

The soul answered: Why do you judge me when I have not judged? I was bound, though I did not bind.

They did not recognize me, but I have recognized that the whole order is passing away - what belongs to the earth and what belongs to the heavens.
