1
“If a prophet rises in your midst, or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder,
2
and the sign or the wonder comes to pass concerning which he spoke to you, saying, ‘Let us go after other elohim whom you have not known, and let us serve them,’
3
you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or to that dreamer of dreams, for Yahuah your Elohim is testing you, to know whether you love Yahuah your Elohim with all your heart and with all your being.
4
After Yahuah your Elohim you shall walk, and Him you shall fear, and His commandments you shall guard, and His voice you shall hear, and Him you shall serve, and to Him you shall hold fast.
5
And that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has spoken rebellion against Yahuah your Elohim, who brought you out from the land of Mitzrayim and redeemed you from the house of slavery, to drive you from the way in which Yahuah your Elohim commanded you to walk. And you shall remove the evil from your midst.
6
If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the ishah of your bosom, or your companion who is as your own being, entices you secretly, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other elohim,’ whom you have not known, you or your fathers,
7
from the elohim of the peoples who are around you, near to you or far from you, from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth,
8
you shall not consent to him, and you shall not listen to him, and your eye shall not pity him, and you shall not spare him, and you shall not conceal him.
9
But killing, you shall surely kill him. Your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people.
10
And you shall stone him with stones, and he shall die, because he sought to drive you away from Yahuah your Elohim, who brought you out from the land of Mitzrayim, from the house of slavery.
11
And all Yisra’el shall hear and fear, and shall no longer do according to this evil thing in your midst.
12
If you hear in one of your cities that Yahuah your Elohim is giving you to dwell in, saying,
13
‘Men, sons of worthlessness, have gone out from your midst and driven away the inhabitants of their city, saying, “Let us go and serve other elohim whom you have not known,”’
14
then you shall inquire, and search out, and ask diligently. And see, if the matter is true and established, that this abomination has been done in your midst,
15
striking, you shall surely strike the inhabitants of that city with the mouth of the sword, devoting it to destruction, and all that is in it, and its livestock, with the mouth of the sword.
16
And all its spoil you shall gather into the midst of its open square, and you shall burn the city and all its spoil completely with fire to Yahuah your Elohim. And it shall be an everlasting heap; it shall not be built again.
17
And nothing from what is devoted to destruction shall cling to your hand, so that Yahuah may turn from the burning of His anger and give you compassion, and have compassion upon you, and multiply you, according to what He swore to your fathers,
18
when you listen to the voice of Yahuah your Elohim, to guard all His commandments that I command you today, to do what is right in the eyes of Yahuah your Elohim.”
