1
“If there is a dispute between men, and they come near to judgment, and the judges judge them, then they shall justify the righteous and condemn the wicked.
2
And it shall be, if the wicked one is worthy of being struck, that the judge shall cause him to lie down and be struck before his face, according to his wickedness, by number.
3
Forty he may strike him; he shall not add more, lest he continue to strike him beyond these with many blows, and your brother be dishonored before your eyes.
4
You shall not muzzle an ox while it is threshing.
5
If brothers dwell together, and one of them dies and has no son, the ishah of the dead shall not become the ishah of a stranger outside the family. Her husband’s brother shall go in to her and take her for himself as an ishah, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother toward her.
6
And it shall be that the firstborn whom she bears shall rise upon the name of his dead brother, so that his name is not wiped out from Yisra’el.
7
But if the ish does not desire to take his brother’s ishah, then his brother’s ishah shall go up to the gate, to the elders, and say, ‘My husband’s brother refuses to raise up a name for his brother in Yisra’el; he is not willing to perform the duty of a husband’s brother toward me.’
8
And the elders of his city shall call him and speak to him. And if he stands and says, ‘I do not desire to take her,’
9
then his brother’s ishah shall draw near to him before the eyes of the elders, and remove his sandal from upon his foot, and spit before his face, and answer and say, ‘Thus shall it be done to the ish who does not build up the house of his brother.’
10
And his name shall be called in Yisra’el, ‘The house of the one whose sandal was removed.’
11
If men strive together, an ish and his brother, and the ishah of one draws near to deliver her husband from the hand of the one striking him, and she reaches out her hand and takes hold of his private parts,
12
then you shall cut off her hand. Your eye shall not pity.
13
You shall not have in your bag differing weights, a great and a small.
14
You shall not have in your house differing measures, a great and a small.
15
A whole and righteous weight you shall have; a whole and righteous measure you shall have, so that your days may be prolonged upon the land that Yahuah your Elohim is giving you.
16
For everyone who does these things, everyone who acts unrighteously, is an abomination to Yahuah your Elohim.
17
Remember what Amaleq did to you on the way when you came out from Mitzrayim,
18
how he met you on the way and struck at your rear, all the weak ones behind you, while you were weary and exhausted; and he did not fear Elohim.
19
And it shall be, when Yahuah your Elohim gives you rest from all your enemies around you, in the land that Yahuah your Elohim is giving you as an inheritance to possess, that you shall wipe out the remembrance of Amaleq from beneath the heavens. You shall not forget.”
