1
And it came when Daviyd dwelt in his house that Daviyd said to Natan the prophet, “See, I dwell in a house of cedars, but the Ark of the Covenant of Yahuah is beneath curtains.”
2
Natan said to Daviyd, “Do all that is in your heart, for Elohim is with you.”
3
And it came that night that the Word of Elohim came to Natan, saying,
4
“Go and say to Daviyd My servant, ‘Thus says Yahuah: You shall not build Me the House in which to dwell.
5
For I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought up Yisra’el to this day, but I have gone from tent to tent and from one Dwelling Place to another.
6
In all that I walked throughout all Yisra’el, did I speak a word to any of the judges of Yisra’el whom I commanded to shepherd My people, saying, “Why have you not built Me a house of cedars?”’
7
And now, thus you shall say to My servant Daviyd, ‘Thus says Yahuah of Hosts: I took you from the pasture, from after the flock, to be ruler over My people Yisra’el.
8
I have been with you wherever you walked, cut off all your enemies from before your face, and made you a name like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.
9
I shall appoint a place for My people Yisra’el and plant him, that he may dwell beneath himself and tremble no more; and sons of crookedness shall no longer wear him away as at the first,
10
from the days when I commanded judges over My people Yisra’el. I shall subdue all your enemies. And I declare to you that Yahuah shall build you a House.
11
When your days are fulfilled to walk with your fathers, I shall raise up your seed after you, who shall be from your sons, and I shall establish his Kingdom.
12
He shall build Me a House, and I shall establish his Throne forever.
13
I shall be to him a Father, and he shall be to Me a son. I shall not remove My covenant-faithfulness from him as I removed it from the one who was before you.
14
I shall cause him to stand in My House and in My Kingdom forever, and his Throne shall be established forever.’”
15
According to all these Words and according to all this vision, so Natan spoke to Daviyd.
16
Then King Daviyd came and sat before Yahuah and said, “Who am I, Yahuah Elohim, and what is my House, that You have brought me as far as here?
17
And this was small in Your eyes, Elohim, for You have spoken concerning the House of Your servant for a distant time and have regarded me according to the order of the exalted Adam, Yahuah Elohim.
18
What more can Daviyd add to You concerning the honor of Your servant? For You know Your servant.
19
Yahuah, for the sake of Your servant and according to Your own heart, You have done all this greatness, to make known all these great things.
20
Yahuah, there is none like You, and there is no Elohim besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
21
And who is like Your people Yisra’el, one nation in the earth, whom Elohim went to redeem as a people for Himself, to set for Yourself a Name of great and fearful deeds, driving nations from before Your people whom You redeemed from Mitzrayim?
22
You appointed Your people Yisra’el as Your people forever, and You, Yahuah, became their Elohim.
23
And now, Yahuah, let the Word You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his House be confirmed forever, and do as You have spoken.
24
Let it be confirmed, and let Your Name be magnified forever, saying, ‘Yahuah of Hosts, Elohim of Yisra’el, is Elohim to Yisra’el’; and let the House of Daviyd Your servant be established before Your face.
25
For You, my Elohim, uncovered the ear of Your servant to build him a House. Therefore Your servant has found courage to pray before Your face.
26
And now, Yahuah, You are Elohim, and You have spoken this good concerning Your servant.
27
And now You have been pleased to bless the House of Your servant, that it may be forever before Your face. For You, Yahuah, have blessed it, and it is blessed forever.”
