1
A Kohen must be capable of the qodesh service, instruction, prayer, reconciliation, and disciplined life. Persistent fraud, violence, notorious sexual misconduct, habitual drunkenness, and deliberate profanation are impediments.
2
Ordination shall not be repeated as a commodity nor given as a reward for payment.
3
The Kohen shall not confuse sacred office with unrestricted civil power. He may teach and reconcile; where a civil claim or criminal accusation requires a competent court, it shall be sent there.
4
He shall not curse the people, exploit confession, sell sacraments, or treat the poor with contempt.
5
Deposition concerns loss of office; it is distinct from civil damages, criminal punishment, or restoration to an injured person. The jurisdictions shall be kept separate.
6
A physical limitation that does not prevent the actual functions of office is not, by itself, moral unfitness.
