Deacons are appointed for service, assistance, proclamation, distribution, and ordered support of the qodesh assembly.

They shall be tested for honesty, sobriety, obedience to lawful instruction, and capacity to handle entrusted goods without diversion.

They may not seize the duties of Kohaniym merely from ambition, nor may higher clergy use them as personal servants outside the lawful work of office.

Those administering food, offerings, or assistance to the poor shall account for what they receive and distribute.

Persistent insubordination, fraud, sacrilege, violence, or scandalous conduct may justify removal after examination.
