1
Let every soul submit to governing authorities. For there is no authority except under Elohim, and the existing authorities have been arranged under Elohim.
2
Therefore the one resisting authority has opposed Elohim’s arrangement, and those opposing will receive judgment upon themselves.
3
For rulers are not a terror to good work but to evil. Do you want not to fear the authority? Do good, and you will have praise from it,
4
for it is Elohim’s servant to you for good. But if you do evil, fear, for it does not bear the sword without purpose. It is Elohim’s servant, an avenger for wrath upon the one practicing evil.
5
Therefore it is necessary to submit, not only because of wrath but also because of conscience.
6
For this reason you also pay tribute, for they are public servants of Elohim, attending continually to this very thing.
7
Pay everyone what is owed: tribute to whom tribute, tax to whom tax, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
8
Owe no one anything except to love one another, for the one loving another has fulfilled Torah.
9
For this: “You shall not commit adultery; you shall not murder; you shall not steal; you shall not desire,” and whatever other command there is, is summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
10
Love works no evil toward a neighbor. Therefore love is Torah’s fulfillment.
11
And do this knowing the appointed time: the hour has already come for you to awaken from sleep, for now our deliverance is nearer than when we first trusted.
12
The night advanced; the day has drawn near. Therefore let us put away the works of darkness and put on the weapons of light.
13
Let us walk properly as in the day—not in feasts of excess and drunkenness, not in sexual beds and unrestrained conduct, not in strife and jealousy.
14
Instead, put on the Master Yahushua the Mashiyach, and make no provision for flesh to fulfill its desires.
