1
Paulos, an enslaved servant of Elohim and an emissary of Yahushua the Mashiyach, according to the faithfulness of Elohim’s chosen ones and the knowledge of truth that accords with reverence,
2
upon hope of everlasting life, which Elohim, who does not lie, promised before times of ages,
3
but at the proper times manifested his word through proclamation, with which I was entrusted by command of Elohim our Deliverer,
4
to Titos, a true son according to our shared faithfulness: favor and peace from Elohim the Father and Yahushua the Mashiyach, our Deliverer.
5
I left you in Krete for this reason: that you might set in order the things still lacking and appoint elders in every city, as I directed you.
6
An elder must be beyond accusation, husband of one wife, having faithful children who are not accused of reckless living or rebellion.
7
For an overseer, as Elohim’s steward, must be beyond accusation: not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, and not greedy for shameful gain,
8
but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sound-minded, righteous, set apart, and self-controlled.
9
He must hold firmly to the trustworthy word according to the teaching, so that he may be able both to exhort through sound instruction and to expose those who oppose it.
10
For there are many rebellious people, empty talkers, and deceivers, especially those from the circumcision,
11
whose mouths must be stopped. They overturn whole households, teaching for shameful gain what they should not teach.
12
One of them, their own prophet, said, “Kretans are always liars, evil beasts, idle bellies.”
13
This testimony is true. For this reason rebuke them sharply, so that they may become sound in the faithfulness,
14
not paying attention to Yehudi myths or commands of people who turn away from the truth.
15
To the clean, all things are clean; but to those who are defiled and unfaithful, nothing is clean. Both their mind and conscience are defiled.
16
They profess to know Elohim, but by their works they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.
