1
Come now, you rich ones— weep and howl over the miseries coming upon you.
2
Your riches have rotted, and your garments have become moth-eaten.
3
Your gold and silver have corroded. And their corrosion shall be a testimony against you and shall consume your flesh like fire. You stored up treasure in the last days.
4
See— the wages of the workers who harvested your fields, which you withheld from them, cry out. And the cries of those who reaped have entered the ears of Yahuah of Hosts.
5
You lived in luxury upon the earth and indulged yourselves. You fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.
6
You condemned and murdered the righteous one. He does not resist you.
7
Therefore be patient, brothers, until the coming of the Master. See— the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it until it receives the early rain and the latter rain.
8
You also be patient. Strengthen your hearts, because the coming of the Master has drawn near.
9
Do not murmur against one another, brothers, so that you are not judged. See— the Judge stands at the doors.
10
Take as an example, my brothers, the suffering and the patience of the prophets who spoke in the Name of Yahuah.
11
See— we call blessed those who endured. You heard of the endurance of Iyov and saw the outcome from Yahuah— that Yahuah is full of compassion and rich in mercy.
12
But above all, my brothers, do not swear— neither by the heavens, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath. But let your yes be yes, and your no be no, so that you do not fall under Judgment.
13
Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.
14
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Name of Yahuah.
15
And the prayer of trust shall restore the sick one, and the Master shall raise him up. And if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16
Therefore confess your sins to one another and pray for one another so that you may be restored. The effective petition of a righteous ish has great power in its working.
17
Eliyahu was an Adam of the same nature as us. And he prayed earnestly that it would not rain. And it did not rain upon the land for three years and six months.
18
And again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
19
My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back,
20
let him know that whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way shall deliver a being from death and shall cover a multitude of sins.
