1
Likewise, you wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the Word, they may be won without a word through the conduct of their wives,
2
when they observe your pure conduct joined with reverence.
3
Let your adornment not be merely outward— the braiding of hair, the wearing of gold, or the putting on of garments—
4
but let it be the hidden Adam of the heart, with the incorruptible quality of a gentle and quiet ruach, which is very precious before Elohim.
5
For in this way the holy women of former times, who hoped in Elohim, also adorned themselves, submitting themselves to their own husbands,
6
just as Sarah obeyed Avraham, calling him master. You became her daughters if you do good and are not terrified by any threat.
7
Likewise, you husbands, dwell with your wives according to understanding, showing honor to the ishah as to the more delicate vessel, and as to one who is also a co-heir of the favor of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
8
And finally, all of you— be of one mind, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, humble in spirit.
9
Do not repay evil for evil, or insult for insult. Rather, give blessing, because to this you were called, so that you may inherit a blessing.
10
For: “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him restrain his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.
11
Let him turn away from evil and do good. Let him seek shalom and pursue it.
12
For the eyes of Yahuah are upon the righteous, and His ears are open to their petition. But the face of Yahuah is against those doing evil.”
13
And who is the one who shall harm you if you become zealous for what is good?
14
But even if you suffer because of Righteousness, you are blessed. Do not fear their fear, and do not be troubled.
15
But set apart the Anointed as Master in your hearts, always ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you for a reason concerning the hope within you, yet with gentleness and reverence,
16
having a good conscience, so that in the thing in which they speak against you as evildoers, those who slander your good conduct in the Anointed may be put to shame.
17
For it is better, if the will of Elohim permits it, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
18
For the Anointed also suffered once for sins— the righteous for the unrighteous— so that he might bring us to Elohim, having been put to death in flesh, but made alive in ruach.
19
In this also he went and proclaimed to the ruachot held in confinement,
20
those who formerly disobeyed, when the patience of Elohim waited in the days of Noach, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few— that is, eight beings— were brought safely through water.
21
Corresponding to this, immersion now also bears witness to your deliverance— not as removal of dirt from flesh, but as an appeal of a good conscience toward Elohim, through the resurrection of Yahushua the Anointed,
22
who is at the right hand of Elohim, having gone into the heavens, with messengers, authorities, and powers made subject to him.
