1
The first account I made, O Theophilos, concerning everything Yahushua began both to do and to teach,
2
until the day when he was taken up, after giving commands through Holy Ruach to the emissaries whom he had chosen.
3
To these he also presented himself alive after his suffering, with many certain proofs, being seen by them through forty days and speaking concerning the Kingdom of Elohim.
4
And while gathering with them, he commanded them not to depart from Yerushalayim, but to wait for the promise of the Father, “which,” he said, “you heard from me.
5
For Yochanan immersed in water, but you shall be immersed in Holy Ruach not many days from now.”
6
Therefore those who had gathered asked him, saying: “Master, is it at this time that you are restoring the Kingdom to Yisra’el?”
7
And he said to them: “It is not for you to know the appointed times or seasons which the Father placed within His own authority.
8
But you shall receive power when Holy Ruach comes upon you, and you shall be my witnesses in Yerushalayim, and throughout all Yehudah, and Shomeron, and as far as the ends of the earth.”
9
And having said these things, while they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud received him from their sight.
10
And as they were gazing intently toward the heavens while he was going, see— two ishim stood beside them in white garments,
11
and they said: “Ishim of Galil, why do you stand looking toward the heavens? This Yahushua, who was taken up from you into the heavens, shall come in the same manner as you saw him going into the heavens.”
12
Then they returned to Yerushalayim from the mountain called the Mount of Olives, which is near Yerushalayim, a Shabbat-day’s journey away.
13
And when they entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Kepha, Yochanan, Yaaqov, Andrai, Philippos, Toma, Bar-Talmai, Mattithyahu, Yaaqov son of Chalfai, Shim’on the Zealous, and Yehudah son of Yaaqov.
14
All these were continuing with one accord in prayer, together with the women, and Miryam, the mother of Yahushua, and with his brothers.
15
And in those days Kepha stood in the midst of the brothers— and the number of persons gathered was about one hundred and twenty— and said:
16
“Brothers, it was necessary for the writing to be fulfilled which Holy Ruach spoke beforehand through the mouth of Daviyd concerning Yehudah, who became a guide to those who seized Yahushua.
17
For he was numbered among us and received his portion in this service.
18
Now this one acquired a field from the wages of unrighteousness, and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle, and all his inward parts poured out.
19
And it became known to all those dwelling in Yerushalayim, so that the field was called in their own tongue: Chaqel-Dema— that is, Field of Blood.
20
For it is written in the sefer of Tehilliym: ‘Let his dwelling become desolate, and let there be no one dwelling in it,’ and: ‘Let another take his appointed oversight.’
21
Therefore it is necessary that from among the ishim who accompanied us throughout all the time in which the Master Yahushua went in and went out among us—
22
beginning from the immersion of Yochanan until the day when he was taken up from us— one of these must become with us a witness of his resurrection.”
23
And they put forward two: Yoseph, called Bar-Sabba, who was also called Justos, and Mattithyahu.
24
And they prayed, saying: “You, Yahuah, Knower of the hearts of all, show which one of these two You have chosen
25
to receive the place of this service and emissary-work, from which Yehudah turned aside to go to his own place.”
26
And they gave their lots, and the lot fell upon Mattithyahu. And he was numbered with the eleven emissaries.
