1
And Sha’ul was consenting to his death. And on that day a great persecution arose against the assembly that was in Yerushalayim. And they were all scattered throughout the regions of Yehudah and Shomeron, except the emissaries.
2
And devout ishim buried Stephanos and made great lamentation over him.
3
But Sha’ul was ravaging the assembly, entering house after house, dragging away both ishim and ishahot, and handing them over to prison.
4
Therefore those who were scattered went throughout the land proclaiming the Word.
5
And Philippos went down to a city of Shomeron and proclaimed to them the Anointed.
6
And the crowds with one accord gave attention to the things spoken by Philippos, hearing and seeing the signs which he was doing.
7
For unclean ruachot, crying out with a great voice, came out from many who had them, and many who were paralyzed and lame were restored.
8
And there was great joy in that city.
9
Now there was a certain ish named Shim’on, who before this practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Shomeron, saying that he himself was someone great.
10
To him they all gave attention, from the least to the greatest, saying: “This one is the great power of Elohim.”
11
And they gave attention to him because for a long time he had astonished them through sorceries.
12
But when they trusted Philippos as he proclaimed the Besorah concerning the Kingdom of Elohim and the Name of Yahushua the Anointed, they were immersed, both ishim and ishahot.
13
And Shim’on himself also trusted, and having been immersed, he continued with Philippos. And seeing the signs and great mighty works being done, he was astonished.
14
Now when the emissaries in Yerushalayim heard that Shomeron had received the Word of Elohim, they sent to them Kepha and Yochanan.
15
And having gone down, they prayed concerning them, so that they might receive Holy Ruach.
16
For Holy Ruach had not yet fallen upon any of them, but they had only been immersed in the Name of the Master Yahushua.
17
Then they laid their hands upon them, and they received Holy Ruach.
18
And when Shim’on saw that through the laying on of the hands of the emissaries the Ruach was given, he offered them silver,
19
saying: “Give me also this authority, so that upon whomever I lay my hands, he may receive Holy Ruach.”
20
But Kepha said to him: “May your silver perish with you, because you thought the gift of Elohim could be acquired through silver.
21
You have neither portion nor share in this matter, for your heart is not straight before Elohim.
22
Therefore repent from this wickedness of yours, and petition Yahuah, if perhaps the intention of your heart may be forgiven you.
23
For I see you being in bitter poison and bound in unrighteousness.”
24
And Shim’on answered and said: “You petition Yahuah for me, so that none of the things you have spoken may come upon me.”
25
Therefore, having testified and spoken the Word of Yahuah, they returned toward Yerushalayim, proclaiming the Besorah in many villages of the Shomeronim.
26
And a messenger of Yahuah spoke to Philippos, saying: “Rise and go toward the south, upon the road going down from Yerushalayim to Gaza. This is a wilderness road.”
27
And he rose and went. And see— an Ethiopian ish, a eunuch, a powerful official of Kandake, queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasury, had come to Yerushalayim to bow before Elohim.
28
And he was returning, sitting in his chariot, and reading Yeshayahu the prophet.
29
And the Ruach said to Philippos: “Go near and join yourself to this chariot.”
30
And Philippos ran near and heard him reading Yeshayahu the prophet, and said: “Do you understand what you are reading?”
31
And he said: “How am I able, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philippos to come up and sit with him.
32
Now the passage of the writing which he was reading was this: “Like a sheep he was led to slaughter, and like a lamb before the one shearing it is silent, so he does not open his mouth.
33
In his humiliation, his judgment was taken away. Who shall declare his generation? For his life is taken from the earth.”
34
And the eunuch answered Philippos and said: “I ask you— concerning whom does the prophet say this? Concerning himself, or concerning someone else?”
35
And Philippos opened his mouth, and beginning from this writing, proclaimed to him the Besorah concerning Yahushua.
36
And as they were going along the road, they came upon water. And the eunuch said: “See— water. What prevents me from being immersed?”
37
[And Philippos said: “If you trust with all your heart, you may.” And he answered: “I trust that Yahushua the Anointed is the Son of Elohim.”]
38
And he commanded the chariot to stop. And both went down into the water— Philippos and the eunuch— and he immersed him.
39
And when they came up from the water, the Ruach of Yahuah carried Philippos away, and the eunuch saw him no more, for he went on his way rejoicing.
40
But Philippos was found at Azotos. And passing through, he proclaimed the Besorah to all the cities until he came to Caesarea.
