1
And he came also to Derbe and Lystra. And see— a certain talmid was there, named Timotheos, son of a trusting Yehudit ishah, but his father was Greek.
2
He had good testimony from the brothers in Lystra and Ikonion.
3
Paulos desired this one to go out with him, and taking him, he circumcised him because of the Yehudim who were in those places, for they all knew that his father was Greek.
4
And as they passed through the cities, they delivered to them the rulings that had been determined by the emissaries and elders in Yerushalayim for them to guard.
5
Therefore the assemblies were strengthened in the trust and increased in number day by day.
6
And they passed through Phrygia and the Galatian region, having been prevented by Holy Ruach from speaking the Word in Asia.
7
And coming toward Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Ruach of Yahushua did not permit them.
8
And passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas.
9
And during the night, a vision appeared to Paulos: a certain Macedonian ish was standing and urging him, saying: “Cross over into Macedonia and help us.”
10
And when he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia, concluding that Elohim had called us to proclaim the Besorah to them.
11
Therefore, setting sail from Troas, we ran a straight course to Samothrake, and on the next day to Neapolis,
12
and from there to Philippi, which is a leading city of that region of Macedonia, a Roman colony. And we remained in this city some days.
13
And on the day of Shabbat we went outside the gate beside a river, where we supposed there was a place of prayer. And sitting down, we spoke to the ishahot who had gathered.
14
And a certain ishah named Lydia, a seller of purple cloth, from the city of Thyatira, one reverencing Elohim, was listening. Yahuah opened her heart to attend to the things spoken by Paulos.
15
And when she and her household were immersed, she urged us, saying: “If you have judged me faithful to the Master, enter my house and remain.” And she compelled us.
16
And it came to pass, as we were going to the place of prayer, a certain servant girl having a spirit of divination met us, who brought much profit to her masters through fortune-telling.
17
This one, following Paulos and us, cried out, saying: “These ishim are servants of El Elyon, who proclaim to you a way of deliverance.”
18
And she did this for many days. But Paulos, greatly troubled, turned and said to the ruach: “I command you in the Name of Yahushua the Anointed to come out from her.” And it came out in that hour.
19
But when her masters saw that the hope of their profit had gone out, they seized Paulos and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers.
20
And bringing them to the magistrates, they said: “These ishim, being Yehudim, greatly disturb our city
21
and proclaim customs which it is not lawful for us, being Romans, to receive or practice.”
22
And the crowd rose together against them, and the magistrates, tearing their garments from them, commanded that they be beaten with rods.
23
And after striking them with many blows, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to guard them securely.
24
And he, having received such a command, threw them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.
25
But around midnight, Paulos and Silas were praying and singing praise to Elohim, and the prisoners were listening to them.
26
And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and the bonds of everyone were loosened.
27
And the jailer, awakening from sleep and seeing the doors of the prison open, drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing the prisoners had escaped.
28
But Paulos cried with a great voice: “Do no harm to yourself, for we are all here.”
29
And asking for lights, he rushed in and trembling fell down before Paulos and Silas.
30
And bringing them out, he said: “Masters, what must I do to be delivered?”
31
And they said: “Trust in the Master Yahushua, and you shall be delivered— you and your household.”
32
And they spoke the Word of Yahuah to him and to all those in his house.
33
And taking them in that same hour of the night, he washed their wounds, and immediately he and all his household were immersed.
34
And bringing them up into his house, he set food before them and rejoiced greatly with all his household, having trusted in Elohim.
35
And when day came, the magistrates sent the officers, saying: “Release those ishim.”
36
And the jailer reported these words to Paulos: “The magistrates sent that you be released. Therefore now, come out and go in shalom.”
37
But Paulos said to them: “Having beaten us publicly without judgment, though we are Roman citizens, they threw us into prison, and now they cast us out secretly? Certainly not. Let them come themselves and lead us out.”
38
And the officers reported these words to the magistrates. And they became afraid when they heard that they were Romans.
39
And coming, they appealed to them, and leading them out, they asked them to depart from the city.
40
And going out from the prison, they entered the house of Lydia. And seeing the brothers, they encouraged them and departed.
