1
And Shəlomah allied himself by marriage with Pharaoh king of Mitzrayim, and took the daughter of Pharaoh, and brought her into the City of Daviyd, until he had finished building his House, and the House of Yahuah, and the wall of Yerushalayim all around.
2
Only, the people were sacrificing upon the high places, because no House had yet been built for the Name of Yahuah until those days.
3
And Shəlomah loved Yahuah, walking in the statutes of Daviyd his father; only, he sacrificed and burned incense upon the high places.
4
And the king went to Givon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place. One thousand ascending offerings Shəlomah caused to go up upon that altar.
5
In Givon Yahuah appeared to Shəlomah in a dream by night. And Elohim said: “Ask what I shall give you.”
6
And Shəlomah said: “You have dealt in great Covenant-Faithfulness with Your servant Daviyd my father, according as he walked before Your face in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You. And You guarded for him this great Covenant-Faithfulness, and You gave him a son sitting upon his Throne, as it is this day.
7
And now, Yahuah my Elohim, You have made Your servant king in place of Daviyd my father. And I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in.
8
And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, which cannot be numbered or counted for multitude.
9
And You shall give to Your servant a listening heart to judge Your people, to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this Your great people?”
10
And the word was good in the eyes of Adonai, that Shəlomah had asked this thing.
11
And Elohim said to him: “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself many days, and have not asked riches for yourself, and have not asked the being of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to hear Judgment,
12
see, I have done according to your words. See, I have given you a wise and discerning heart, such as none was before you, and none like you shall arise after you.
13
And also that which you did not ask I have given you: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be an ish among kings like you all your days.
14
And if you walk in My ways, to guard My statutes and My commandments, as Daviyd your father walked, then I will lengthen your days.”
15
And Shəlomah awoke, and see, it was a dream. And he came to Yerushalayim and stood before the ark of the Covenant of Yahuah, and caused ascending offerings to go up, and made peace offerings, and made a feast for all his servants.
16
Then two ishah, prostitutes, came to the king and stood before his face.
17
And the one ishah said: “Please, my master, I and this ishah dwell in one house, and I gave birth with her in the house.
18
And it came to pass on the third day after I gave birth that this ishah also gave birth. And we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, only the two of us in the house.
19
And the son of this ishah died in the night, because she lay upon him.
20
And she rose in the middle of the night and took my son from beside me, while your maidservant slept, and laid him in her bosom; and her dead son she laid in my bosom.
21
And I rose in the morning to nurse my son, and see, he was dead. But I examined him in the morning, and see, it was not my son whom I had borne.”
22
And the other ishah said: “No, for my son is the living one, and your son is the dead one.” And this one said: “No, for your son is the dead one, and my son is the living one.” And they spoke before the king.
23
And the king said: “This one says, ‘This is my son, the living one, and your son is the dead one.’ And this one says, ‘No, for your son is the dead one, and my son is the living one.’”
24
And the king said: “Take for me a sword.” And they brought the sword before the king.
25
And the king said: “Cut the living child in two, and give half to the one and half to the other.”
26
And the ishah whose son was the living one spoke to the king, for her inward parts burned toward her son, and she said: “Please, my master, give her the living child, and putting to death, do not put him to death.” But the other said: “Let him be neither mine nor yours. Cut him.”
27
And the king answered and said: “Give her the living child, and putting to death, do not put him to death. She is his mother.”
28
And all Yisra’el heard the Judgment that the king had judged, and they feared before the face of the king, for they saw that the Wisdom of Elohim was within him to do Judgment.
