1
And Chiram king of Tzor sent his servants to Shəlomah, for he had heard that they had anointed him king in place of his father; for Chiram had loved Daviyd all the days.
2
And Shəlomah sent to Chiram, saying:
3
“You know Daviyd my father, that he was not able to build a House for the Name of Yahuah his Elohim because of the wars that surrounded him, until Yahuah placed them beneath the soles of his feet.
4
And now Yahuah my Elohim has given me rest all around. There is neither adversary nor evil occurrence.
5
And see, I am saying that I will build a House for the Name of Yahuah my Elohim, according to what Yahuah spoke to Daviyd my father, saying: ‘Your son, whom I will set upon your Throne in your place, he shall build the House for My Name.’
6
And now, command that they cut for me cedars from Levanon. And my servants shall be with your servants, and I will give you wages for your servants according to all that you say. For you know that there is no one among us who knows how to cut timber like the Tzidonim.”
7
And it came to pass, when Chiram heard the words of Shəlomah, that he rejoiced exceedingly and said: “Blessed be Yahuah this day, who has given to Daviyd a wise son over this great people.”
8
And Chiram sent to Shəlomah, saying: “I have heard that which you sent to me. I will do all your desire concerning cedar timber and concerning cypress timber.
9
My servants shall bring them down from Levanon to the sea, and I will make them into rafts upon the sea to the place that you send word to me. And I will break them apart there, and you shall carry them away. And you shall do my desire by giving bread for my House.”
10
And Chiram gave Shəlomah cedar timber and cypress timber according to all his desire.
11
And Shəlomah gave Chiram twenty thousand kor of wheat as food for his House, and twenty kor of beaten oil. Thus Shəlomah gave to Chiram year by year.
12
And Yahuah gave Shəlomah Wisdom, according to what He had spoken to him. And there was shalom between Chiram and Shəlomah, and the two of them cut a Covenant.
13
And King Shəlomah raised forced labor from all Yisra’el, and the forced labor was thirty thousand ish.
14
And he sent them to Levanon, ten thousand a month in shifts. One month they were in Levanon and two months in their houses. And Adoniram was over the forced labor.
15
And Shəlomah had seventy thousand burden-bearers and eighty thousand stonecutters in the mountain,
16
besides the chiefs of the appointed officers of Shəlomah who were over the work: three thousand three hundred, who ruled over the people doing the work.
17
And the king commanded, and they quarried great stones, costly stones, to lay the Foundation of the House with hewn stones.
18
And the builders of Shəlomah and the builders of Chiram and the Gevalim shaped them. And they prepared the timber and the stones to build the House.
