1
At that time Aviyah son of Yarovam became sick.
2
And Yarovam said to his ishah: “Please rise and disguise yourself, so that they do not know that you are the ishah of Yarovam, and go to Shiloh. See, Achiyah the prophet is there, who spoke concerning me that I would be king over this people.
3
And take in your hand ten loaves, and cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will declare to you what shall happen to the child.”
4
And the ishah of Yarovam did so. And she rose and went to Shiloh and came to the house of Achiyah. Now Achiyah was not able to see, for his eyes had become fixed because of his age.
5
And Yahuah said to Achiyah: “See, the ishah of Yarovam is coming to seek a word from you concerning her son, for he is sick. Thus and thus you shall speak to her. And it shall be, when she comes, that she will make herself appear as another ishah.”
6
And it came to pass, when Achiyah heard the sound of her feet as she entered through the door, that he said: “Come in, ishah of Yarovam. Why are you making yourself appear as another? For I am sent to you with a difficult word.
7
Go, say to Yarovam: ‘Thus says Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el: I lifted you up from among the people and made you ruler over My people Yisra’el.
8
And I tore the Kingdom away from the House of Daviyd and gave it to you. But you have not been as My servant Daviyd, who guarded My commandments and who walked after Me with all his heart, to do only what was upright in My eyes.
9
And you have done more evil than all who were before your face, and you have gone and made for yourself other elohim and molten images, to provoke Me to anger, and you have cast Me behind your back.
10
Therefore, see, I am bringing evil upon the House of Yarovam, and I will cut off from Yarovam every male, restrained and abandoned in Yisra’el. And I will consume after the House of Yarovam as one consumes dung until it is finished.
11
Whoever belongs to Yarovam and dies in the city, the dogs shall eat. And whoever dies in the field, the birds of the heavens shall eat. For Yahuah has spoken.’
12
And you, rise and go to your house. When your feet enter the city, the child shall die.
13
And all Yisra’el shall mourn for him and bury him, for he alone from Yarovam shall come to the tomb, because in him there was found a good thing toward Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el, in the House of Yarovam.
14
And Yahuah shall raise up for Himself a king over Yisra’el who shall cut off the House of Yarovam on that day. And what? Even now.
15
And Yahuah shall strike Yisra’el as a reed is shaken in the waters. And He shall uproot Yisra’el from upon this good land that He gave to their fathers and scatter them beyond the River, because they made their Asherim, provoking Yahuah to anger.
16
And He shall give Yisra’el over because of the sins of Yarovam, by which he sinned and by which he caused Yisra’el to sin.”
17
And the ishah of Yarovam rose and went and came to Tirtzah. And as she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.
18
And they buried him, and all Yisra’el mourned for him, according to the Word of Yahuah that He spoke by the hand of His servant Achiyah the prophet.
19
And the rest of the matters of Yarovam, how he fought and how he reigned, see, they are written in the Sefer of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Yisra’el.
20
And the days that Yarovam reigned were twenty-two years. And he lay down with his fathers, and Nadav his son reigned in his place.
21
And Rechavam son of Shəlomah reigned in Yehudah. Rechavam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Yerushalayim, the city that Yahuah had chosen from all the tribes of Yisra’el to place His Name there. And the name of his mother was Naamah the Ammonit.
22
And Yehudah did what was evil in the eyes of Yahuah, and they provoked Him to jealousy more than all that their fathers had done, by their sins that they sinned.
23
For they also built for themselves high places, and pillars, and Asherim, upon every high hill and beneath every flourishing tree.
24
And there were also male cult prostitutes in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations whom Yahuah had dispossessed from before the sons of Yisra’el.
25
And it came to pass, in the fifth year of King Rechavam, that Shishaq king of Mitzrayim came up against Yerushalayim.
26
And he took the treasures of the House of Yahuah and the treasures of the house of the king. And he took everything. And he took all the shields of gold that Shəlomah had made.
27
And King Rechavam made shields of bronze in their place and entrusted them into the hand of the commanders of the runners who guarded the entrance of the house of the king.
28
And it came to pass, whenever the king entered the House of Yahuah, that the runners carried them and afterward returned them to the chamber of the runners.
29
And the rest of the matters of Rechavam, and all that he did, are they not written in the Sefer of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Yehudah?
30
And there was war between Rechavam and Yarovam all the days.
31
And Rechavam lay down with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the City of Daviyd. And the name of his mother was Naamah the Ammonit. And Aviyam his son reigned in his place.
