1
And the Word of Yahuah came to Yehu son of Chanani against Baasha, saying:
2
“Because I lifted you up from the dust and made you ruler over My people Yisra’el, but you walked in the way of Yarovam and caused My people Yisra’el to sin, provoking Me to anger with their sins,
3
see, I am sweeping away after Baasha and after his House, and I will make your House like the House of Yarovam son of Nevat.
4
Whoever belongs to Baasha and dies in the city, the dogs shall eat; and whoever belongs to him and dies in the field, the birds of the heavens shall eat.”
5
And the rest of the matters of Baasha, and what he did, and his strength, are they not written in the Sefer of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Yisra’el?
6
And Baasha lay down with his fathers and was buried in Tirtzah. And Elah his son reigned in his place.
7
And also by the hand of Yehu son of Chanani the prophet, the Word of Yahuah came against Baasha and against his House, both because of all the evil that he did in the eyes of Yahuah, provoking Him to anger with the work of his hands, becoming like the House of Yarovam, and because he struck it.
8
In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Yehudah, Elah son of Baasha began to reign over Yisra’el in Tirtzah, two years.
9
And his servant Zimri, commander of half his chariots, conspired against him. And he was in Tirtzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Artza, who was over the house in Tirtzah.
10
And Zimri came in and struck him and put him to death, in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Yehudah, and reigned in his place.
11
And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat upon his Throne, that he struck all the House of Baasha. He did not leave to him one male, neither of his relatives nor of his companions.
12
And Zimri destroyed all the House of Baasha, according to the Word of Yahuah that He spoke against Baasha by the hand of Yehu the prophet,
13
because of all the sins of Baasha and the sins of Elah his son, which they sinned and by which they caused Yisra’el to sin, provoking Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el, to anger with their vanities.
14
And the rest of the matters of Elah, and all that he did, are they not written in the Sefer of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Yisra’el?
15
In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Yehudah, Zimri reigned seven days in Tirtzah. And the people were encamped against Gibbeton, which belonged to the Pelishtim.
16
And the people who were encamped heard it said: “Zimri has conspired, and he has also struck the king.” And all Yisra’el made Omri, commander of the host, king over Yisra’el on that day in the camp.
17
And Omri went up from Gibbeton, and all Yisra’el with him, and they besieged Tirtzah.
18
And it came to pass, when Zimri saw that the city was captured, that he entered into the citadel of the house of the king and burned the house of the king over himself with fire. And he died,
19
because of his sins that he sinned, doing what was evil in the eyes of Yahuah, walking in the way of Yarovam and in his sin that he did, causing Yisra’el to sin.
20
And the rest of the matters of Zimri, and the conspiracy that he conspired, are they not written in the Sefer of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Yisra’el?
21
Then the people of Yisra’el were divided into two parts. Half of the people followed Tivni son of Ginat, to make him king, and half followed Omri.
22
And the people who followed Omri prevailed over the people who followed Tivni son of Ginat. And Tivni died, and Omri reigned.
23
In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Yehudah, Omri began to reign over Yisra’el, twelve years. Six years he reigned in Tirtzah.
24
And he bought the mountain of Shomron from Shemer for two talents of silver. And he built upon the mountain and called the name of the city that he built Shomron, according to the name of Shemer, master of the mountain.
25
And Omri did what was evil in the eyes of Yahuah and did more evil than all who were before his face.
26
And he walked in all the way of Yarovam son of Nevat, and in his sin by which he caused Yisra’el to sin, provoking Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el, to anger with their vanities.
27
And the rest of the matters of Omri that he did, and his strength that he exercised, are they not written in the Sefer of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Yisra’el?
28
And Omri lay down with his fathers and was buried in Shomron. And Achav his son reigned in his place.
29
And Achav son of Omri began to reign over Yisra’el in the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Yehudah. And Achav son of Omri reigned over Yisra’el in Shomron twenty-two years.
30
And Achav son of Omri did what was evil in the eyes of Yahuah, more than all who were before his face.
31
And it came to pass, as though it were a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Yarovam son of Nevat, that he took as ishah Izevel daughter of Etbaal, king of the Tzidonim, and went and served Baal and bowed himself to him.
32
And he raised up an altar for Baal in the House of Baal that he had built in Shomron.
33
And Achav made the Asherah. And Achav did more to provoke Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el, to anger than all the kings of Yisra’el who were before his face.
34
In his days Chiel the Beit-Eli built Yericho. With Aviram his firstborn he laid its foundation, and with Seguv his youngest he set up its gates, according to the Word of Yahuah that He spoke by the hand of Yehoshua son of Nun.
