1
And Elisha spoke to the ishah whose son he had caused to live, saying: “Rise, and go—you and your house—and sojourn wherever you can sojourn, for Yahuah has called for a famine, and it shall also come upon the land seven years.”
2
And the ishah rose and did according to the word of the ish of Elohim. And she went, she and her house, and sojourned in the land of the Pelishtim seven years.
3
And it came to pass at the end of seven years that the ishah returned from the land of the Pelishtim. And she went out to cry to the king concerning her house and concerning her field.
4
And the king was speaking with Geichazi, young man of the ish of Elohim, saying: “Please recount to me all the great things that Elisha has done.”
5
And it came to pass, as he was recounting to the king how he had caused the dead to live, that see, the ishah whose son he had caused to live cried out to the king concerning her house and concerning her field. And Geichazi said: “My master the king, this is the ishah, and this is her son whom Elisha caused to live.”
6
And the king asked the ishah, and she recounted it to him. And the king appointed for her one officer, saying: “Restore all that belongs to her, and all the produce of the field from the day she left the land even until now.”
7
And Elisha came to Dammeseq. And Ben-Hadad king of Aram was sick. And it was declared to him, saying: “The ish of Elohim has come here.”
8
And the king said to Chazael: “Take a gift in your hand and go to meet the ish of Elohim, and seek Yahuah by him, saying: ‘Shall I live from this sickness?’”
9
And Chazael went to meet him and took a gift in his hand, even every good thing of Dammeseq, a burden of forty camels. And he came and stood before his face and said: “Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to you, saying: ‘Shall I live from this sickness?’”
10
And Elisha said to him: “Go, say to him: ‘Living, you shall surely live.’ Yet Yahuah has shown me that dying, he shall surely die.”
11
And he fixed his face and set it until he was ashamed. And the ish of Elohim wept.
12
And Chazael said: “Why is my master weeping?” And he said: “Because I know the evil that you will do to the sons of Yisra’el. Their fortified places you will set on fire, and their young men you will put to death with the sword, and their little ones you will dash to pieces, and their pregnant women you will rip open.”
13
And Chazael said: “But what is your servant, the dog, that he should do this great thing?” And Elisha said: “Yahuah has shown me you as king over Aram.”
14
And he went from Elisha and came to his master. And he said to him: “What did Elisha say to you?” And he said: “He said to me: ‘Living, you shall surely live.’”
15
And it came to pass on the next day that he took the covering and dipped it in water and spread it over his face, and he died. And Chazael reigned in his place.
16
And in the fifth year of Yehoram son of Achav, king of Yisra’el, while Yehoshafat was king of Yehudah, Yehoram son of Yehoshafat, king of Yehudah, began to reign.
17
Thirty-two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Yerushalayim.
18
And he walked in the way of the kings of Yisra’el, as the House of Achav had done, for the daughter of Achav was his ishah. And he did what was evil in the eyes of Yahuah.
19
Yet Yahuah was not willing to destroy Yehudah, for the sake of Daviyd His servant, according as He had spoken to him, to give to him a Lamp, and to his sons, all the days.
20
In his days Edom rebelled from beneath the hand of Yehudah and made a king over themselves.
21
And Yehoram crossed over to Tzair, and all the chariots with him. And he rose by night and struck Edom, who had surrounded him, and the commanders of the chariots. And the people fled to their tents.
22
And Edom rebelled from beneath the hand of Yehudah to this day. Then Livnah rebelled at that time.
23
And the rest of the matters of Yehoram, and all that he did, are they not written in the Sefer of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Yehudah?
24
And Yehoram lay down with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the City of Daviyd. And Achazyahu his son reigned in his place.
25
In the twelfth year of Yehoram son of Achav, king of Yisra’el, Achazyahu son of Yehoram, king of Yehudah, began to reign.
26
Twenty-two years old was Achazyahu when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Yerushalayim. And the name of his mother was Atalyah daughter of Omri, king of Yisra’el.
27
And he walked in the way of the House of Achav and did what was evil in the eyes of Yahuah, like the House of Achav, for he was son-in-law to the House of Achav.
28
And he went with Yehoram son of Achav to battle against Chazael king of Aram at Ramot-Gilad. And the Aramim struck Yehoram.
29
And King Yehoram returned to Yizre’el to be healed from the wounds with which the Aramim had struck him at Ramah, when he fought against Chazael king of Aram. And Achazyahu son of Yehoram, king of Yehudah, went down to see Yehoram son of Achav in Yizre’el, because he was sick.
