1
In those days Chizqiyahu became sick to death. And Yeshayahu the prophet, son of Amotz, came to him and said to him: “Thus says Yahuah: ‘Command concerning your House, for dying, you shall surely die, and you shall not live.’”
2
And he turned his face toward the wall and prayed to Yahuah, saying:
3
“Please, Yahuah, remember now how I have walked before Your face in truth and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in Your eyes.” And Chizqiyahu wept with a great weeping.
4
And it came to pass, before Yeshayahu had gone out to the middle court, that the Word of Yahuah came to him, saying:
5
“Return and say to Chizqiyahu, ruler of My people: ‘Thus says Yahuah, Elohim of Daviyd your father: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. See, I am healing you. On the third day you shall go up to the House of Yahuah.
6
And I will add to your days fifteen years. And from the hand of the king of Ashshur I will deliver you and this city. And I will defend this city for My sake and for the sake of Daviyd My servant.’”
7
And Yeshayahu said: “Take a cake of figs.” And they took and placed it upon the boil, and he lived.
8
And Chizqiyahu said to Yeshayahu: “What is the sign that Yahuah will heal me, and that on the third day I shall go up to the House of Yahuah?”
9
And Yeshayahu said: “This shall be the sign for you from Yahuah, that Yahuah will do the Word that He has spoken: Shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or return backward ten steps?”
10
And Chizqiyahu said: “It is a light thing for the shadow to stretch forward ten steps. No; let the shadow return backward ten steps.”
11
And Yeshayahu the prophet called to Yahuah. And He caused the shadow to return backward ten steps, by the steps upon which it had gone down on the steps of Achaz.
12
At that time Berodakh-Baladan son of Baladan, king of Bavel, sent sefarim and a gift to Chizqiyahu, for he had heard that Chizqiyahu had been sick.
13
And Chizqiyahu listened to them and showed them all the house of his treasure: the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious oil, and the house of his weapons, and all that was found in his treasuries. There was not a thing in his House or in all his dominion that Chizqiyahu did not show them.
14
And Yeshayahu the prophet came to King Chizqiyahu and said to him: “What did these men say, and from where did they come to you?” And Chizqiyahu said: “From a distant land they came, from Bavel.”
15
And he said: “What have they seen in your House?” And Chizqiyahu said: “All that is in my House they have seen. There is not a thing in my treasuries that I did not show them.”
16
And Yeshayahu said to Chizqiyahu: “Hear the Word of Yahuah:
17
‘See, days are coming when all that is in your House, and all that your fathers have stored up until this day, shall be carried to Bavel. Nothing shall be left,’ says Yahuah.
18
‘And from your sons who shall come out from you, whom you shall father, they shall take. And they shall become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Bavel.’”
19
And Chizqiyahu said to Yeshayahu: “Good is the Word of Yahuah that you have spoken.” And he said: “Is it not so, if there shall be shalom and truth in my days?”
20
And the rest of the matters of Chizqiyahu, and all his strength, and how he made the pool and the conduit and brought the waters into the city, are they not written in the Sefer of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Yehudah?
21
And Chizqiyahu lay down with his fathers. And Menasheh his son reigned in his place.
