1
Wisdom has built her house. She has hewn out her seven pillars.
2
She has slaughtered her slaughtering. She has mixed her wine. She has also arranged her table.
3
She has sent out her maidservants. She calls from the highest places of the city:
4
“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here.” To the one lacking heart she says:
5
“Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed.
6
Forsake simplicity and live, and walk in the way of understanding.”
7
The one who corrects a scoffer takes shame for himself, and the one who rebukes the wicked receives a blemish.
8
Do not rebuke a scoffer, lest he hate you. Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.
9
Give to a wise man, and he will become wiser still. Teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.
10
The fear of Yahuah is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
11
For by me your days shall be multiplied, and years of life shall be added to you.
12
If you are wise, you are wise for yourself. And if you scoff, you alone shall bear it.
13
The foolish ishah is loud. She is simple and knows nothing.
14
And she sits at the entrance of her house, upon a seat in the high places of the city,
15
calling to those who pass by, who are going straight on their paths:
16
“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here.” And to the one lacking heart she says:
17
“Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”
18
But he does not know that the Rephaim are there, and that her invited ones are in the depths of Sheol.
