9:1
In the first year of Daryavesh, son of Achashverosh, from the seed of the Madai, who was made king over the Kingdom of the Kasdim—
9:2
in the first year of his reign, I, Dani’el, understood by the sefarim the number of the years concerning which the Word of Yahuah came to Yirmeyahu the prophet, that He would complete seventy years for the desolations of Yerushalayim.
9:3
And I set my face toward Yahuah Elohim, to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.
9:4
And I prayed to Yahuah my Elohim and confessed, and said: “O Yahuah, the great and fearsome El, who guards the Covenant and Covenant-Faithfulness with those who love Him and with those who guard His commandments—
9:5
we have sinned and acted crookedly, and acted wickedly, and rebelled, turning aside from Your commandments and from Your Judgments.
9:6
And we did not listen to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your Name to our kings, our rulers, our fathers, and all the people of the land.
9:7
To You, O Yahuah, belongs Righteousness, but to us shame of face, as it is this day— to the men of Yehudah, and the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, and all Yisra’el, those near and those far, in all the lands where You drove them because of their treachery which they committed against You.
9:8
O Yahuah, to us belongs shame of face— to our kings, to our rulers, and to our fathers— because we sinned against You.
9:9
To Yahuah our Elohim belong compassion and forgiveness, for we rebelled against Him.
9:10
And we did not listen to the voice of Yahuah our Elohim, to walk in His Torah which He set before us by the hand of His servants the prophets.
9:11
And all Yisra’el transgressed Your Torah and turned aside so as not to listen to Your voice. Therefore the curse and the oath written in the Torah of Mosheh, servant of Elohim, were poured out upon us, because we sinned against Him.
9:12
And He established His words which He spoke against us and against our judges who judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil. For beneath all the heavens there has not been done as was done to Yerushalayim.
9:13
Just as it is written in the Torah of Mosheh, all this evil came upon us. Yet we did not seek the face of Yahuah our Elohim by turning back from our crookednesses and gaining understanding through Your truth.
9:14
Therefore Yahuah watched over the evil and brought it upon us, for Yahuah our Elohim is righteous in all His works which He does, but we did not listen to His voice.
9:15
And now, O Yahuah our Elohim, who brought Your People out from the land of Mitsrayim with a mighty hand and made for Yourself a Name as it is this day— we have sinned, we have acted wickedly.
9:16
O Yahuah, according to all Your Righteousness, let Your anger and Your wrath turn away, I ask You, from Your city Yerushalayim, Your holy mountain. For because of our sins and because of the crookednesses of our fathers, Yerushalayim and Your People have become a reproach to all those around us.
9:17
And now, our Elohim, listen to the prayer of Your servant and to his supplications. And cause Your face to shine upon Your Sanctuary, which is desolate, for Your own sake, O Yahuah.
9:18
Incline Your ear, my Elohim, and hear. Open Your eyes and see our desolations and the city upon which Your Name is called. For we do not cause our supplications to fall before You because of our own Righteousness, but because of Your abundant compassion.
9:19
O Yahuah, hear. O Yahuah, forgive. O Yahuah, listen and act. Do not delay, for Your own sake, my Elohim, because Your city and Your People are called by Your Name.”
9:20
And while I was still speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Yisra’el, and causing my supplication to fall before Yahuah my Elohim for the holy mountain of my Elohim—
9:21
while I was still speaking in prayer, the ish Gavri’el, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being made to fly swiftly, touched me at the time of the evening offering.
9:22
And he caused me to understand and spoke with me, and said: “O Dani’el, I have now come forth to give you insight and understanding.
9:23
At the beginning of your supplications a word went forth, and I have come to declare it, for you are greatly beloved. Therefore understand the matter and discern the vision.
9:24
Seventy sevens have been decreed upon your people and upon your holy city, to restrain transgression, to seal up sins, to cover crookedness, to bring in everlasting Righteousness, to seal vision and prophet, and to anoint the Most Holy.
9:25
Therefore know and understand: from the going forth of the word to restore and rebuild Yerushalayim until an anointed one, a ruler, shall be seven sevens. And for sixty-two sevens it shall be restored and rebuilt, with street and trench, even in troubled times.
9:26
And after the sixty-two sevens an anointed one shall be cut off and shall have nothing. And the people of a ruler who is to come shall destroy the city and the Sanctuary. And its end shall come with a flood, and until the end there shall be war. Desolations are decreed.
9:27
And he shall strengthen a covenant with many for one seven. And in the midst of the seven he shall cause sacrifice and grain offering to cease. And upon the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed completion is poured out upon the desolator.”
