The Word came again to Yirmeyahu concerning Tzidqiyahu the king.

“Go before the king and tell him that the sword already approaches because the rulers and people refuse correction.

If the king humbles himself and turns from deceit, mercy remains possible. If he listens to flattering prophets, the judgment shall come quickly.”

Yirmeyahu entered the royal court and spoke the Word without softening it.

Tzidqiyahu feared the message but feared the rulers around him also.

He said, “Pray for this city.”

Yirmeyahu answered, “Prayer is not a substitute for repentance.”
