24:1
And it came to pass after the death of Avraham, that Yahuah blessed Yitschaq his son, and he arose from Hebron and went
24:2
and dwelt at the Well of the Vision in the first year of the third week of this jubilee, seven years.
24:3
And in the first year of the fourth week a famine began in the land, besides the first famine, which had been in the days of Avraham.
24:4
And Ya’aqov sod lentil pottage, and Esav came from the field hungry.
24:5
And he said to Ya’aqov his brother: "Give me of this red pottage." And Ya’aqov said to him: "Sell to me your [primogeniture, this] birthright and I will give you bread, and also some of this lentil pottage."
24:6
And Esav said in his heart: "I shall die; of what profit to me is this birthright?"
24:7
And he said to Ya’aqov: "I give it to you." And Ya’aqov said "Swear to me, this day," and he swore to him.
24:8
And Ya’aqov gave his brother Esav bread and pottage, and he ate till he was satisfied, and Esav despised his birthright;
24:9
for this reason was Esav's name called Edom, on account of the red pottage which Ya’aqov gave him for his birthright.
24:10
And Ya’aqov became the elder, and Esav was brought down from his dignity.
24:11
And the famine was over the land, and Yitschaq departed to go down into Mitsrayim in the second year of this week,
24:12
and went to the king of the Pelishtiym to Gerar, to Abimelech.
24:13
And Yahuah appeared to him and said to him: "Go not down into Mitsrayim; dwell in the land that I shall tell you of,
24:14
and sojourn in this land, and I shall be with you and bless you. For to you and to your seed shall I give all this land, and I shall establish My oath which I swore to Avraham your father,
24:15
and I shall multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and shall give to your seed all this land. And in your seed will all the nations of the earth be blessed,
24:16
because your father obeyed My voice, and kept My charge and My commandments, and My rulings, and My ordinances, and My covenant;
24:17
and now obey My voice and dwell in this land."
24:18
And he dwelt in Gerar three weeks of years.
24:19
And Abimelech charged concerning him, and concerning all that was his, saying: "Any man that shall touch him or anything that is his shall surely die."
24:20
And Yitschaq waxed strong among the Pelishtiym, and he got many possessions, oxen and sheep and camels and asses and a great household.
24:21
And he sowed in the land of the Pelishtiym and brought in a hundred-fold, and Yitschaq became exceedingly great,
24:22
and the Pelishtiym envied him. Now all the wells which the servants of Avraham had dug during the life of Avraham, the Pelishtiym had stopped them after the death of Avraham, and filled them with earth.
24:23
And Abimelech said to Yitschaq: "Go from us, for you are much mightier than we";
24:24
and Yitschaq departed thence in the first year of the seventh week, and sojourned in the valleys of Gerar.
24:25
And they digged again the wells of water which the servants of Avraham, his father, had digged, and which the Pelishtiym had closed after the death of Avraham his father, and he called their names as Avraham his father had named them.
24:26
And the servants of Yitschaq dug a well in the valley, and found living water,
24:27
and the shepherds of Gerar strove with the shepherds of Yitschaq, saying: "The water is ours "; and Yitschaq called the name of the well "Perversity," because they had been perverse with us.
24:28
And they dug a second well, and they strove for that also, and he called its name "Enmity."
24:29
And he arose from thence and they digged another well, and for that they strove not, and he called the name of it "Room," and Yitschaq said: "Now Yahuah has made room for us, and we have increased in the land."
24:30
And he went up from thence to the Well of the Oath in the first year of the first week in the forty-fourth jubilee.
24:31
And Yahuah appeared to him that night, on the new moon of the first month, and said to him: "I am the Elohim of Avraham your father; fear not, for I am with you, and shall bless you and shall surely multiply your seed as the sand of the earth, for the sake of Avraham my servant."
24:32
And he built an altar there, which Avraham his father had first built, and he called upon the name of Yahuah, and he offered sacrifice to the Elohim of Avraham his father.
24:33
And they digged a well and they found living water.
24:34
And the servants of Yitschaq digged another well and did not find water,
24:35
and they went and told Yitschaq that they had not found water, and Yitschaq said: "I have sworn this day to the Pelishtiym and this thing has been announced to us."
24:36
And he called the name of that place the "Well of the Oath"; for there he had sworn to Abimelech and Ahuzzath his friend and Phicol the prefect of his host.
24:37
And Yitschaq knew that day that under constraint he had sworn to them to make peace with them.
24:38
And Yitschaq on that day cursed the Pelishtiym and said: "Cursed be the Pelishtiym to the day of wrath and indignation from the midst of all nations;
24:39
may Elohim make them a derision and a curse and an object of wrath and indignation in the hands of the sinners the nations and in the hands of the Kittim.
24:40
And whoever escaps the sword of the enemy and the Kittim, may the righteous nation root out in judgment from under heaven;
24:41
for they will be the enemies and foes of my children throughout their generations upon the earth. And no remnant will be left to them, Nor one that will be saved on the day of the wrath of judgment;
24:42
For for destruction and rooting out and expulsion from the earth is the whole seed of the Pelishtiym (reserved), And there will no longer be left for these Caphtorim a name or a seed on the earth.
24:43
For though he ascend to heaven, Thence will he be brought down, And though he make himself strong on earth, Thence will he be dragged forth,
24:44
And though he hide himself among the nations, Even from thence will he be rooted out; And though he descend into Sheol, There also will his condemnation be great, And there also he will have no peace.
24:45
And if he go into captivity, By the hands of those that seek his life will they slay him on the way,
24:46
And neither name nor seed will be left to him on all the earth; For into eternal malediction will he depart."
24:47
And thus is it written and engraved concerning him on the heavenly tables, to do to him on the day of judgment, so that he may be rooted out of the earth.
