1
And Iyov again lifted his proverb and said:
2
“As El lives, who removed my Judgment, and Shaddai, who embittered my being:
3
as long as my breath is within me and the Ruach of Eloah is in my nostrils,
4
my lips shall not speak crookedness, and my tongue shall not utter deceit.
5
Far be it from me to declare you righteous; until I expire, I shall not remove my completeness from me.
6
I hold firmly to my righteousness and shall not release it; my heart shall not reproach me from my days.
7
Let my enemy be as the wicked, and the one rising against me as the crooked.
8
For what is the hope of the profane when He cuts him off, when Eloah draws out his being?
9
Does El hear his cry when distress comes upon him?
10
Does he delight himself in Shaddai? Does he call upon Eloah at every time?
11
I shall teach you by the hand of El; what is with Shaddai I shall not conceal.
12
See, all of you have beheld it; why then have you become utterly empty?
13
This is the portion of a wicked Adam with El, and the inheritance terrifying ones receive from Shaddai:
14
if his sons multiply, it is for the sword; and his offspring are not satisfied with bread.
15
Those remaining after him are buried by death, and his widows do not weep.
16
If he heaps silver like dust and prepares clothing like clay,
17
he prepares it, but the righteous wears it, and the innocent divides the silver.
18
He builds his house like a moth and like a booth a watcher makes.
19
The rich lies down, but is not gathered; he opens his eyes, and it is gone.
20
Terrors overtake him like waters; at night a storm steals him.
21
The east wind lifts him, and he walks away; it sweeps him from his place.
22
He casts upon him and does not spare; fleeing, he flees from His hand.
23
One claps palms over him and hisses him from his place.
