1
Then Yahuah answered Iyov from the storm and said:
2
“Who is this darkening counsel by words without knowledge?
3
Gird your loins now like a mighty one; I shall ask you, and you make known to Me.
4
Where were you when I founded the earth? Declare, if you know understanding.
5
Who set its measurements, if you know? Or who stretched the line over it?
6
Upon what were its bases sunk? Or who cast its cornerstone,
7
when the stars of morning sang together and all the sons of Elohim shouted?
8
And who shut in the sea with doors when it burst forth, coming from the womb;
9
when I made the cloud its garment and thick darkness its swaddling cloth;
10
when I broke My prescribed boundary over it and set bar and doors,
11
and said, ‘To here you come, but no farther; and here the majesty of your waves is stayed’?
12
Have you, from your days, commanded the morning or made the dawn know its place,
13
to take hold of the wings of the earth, so that the wicked are shaken from it?
14
It changes like clay beneath a seal, and they stand forth like a garment.
15
Their light is withheld from the wicked, and the uplifted arm is broken.
16
Have you entered the springs of the sea, or walked in the searching of the deep?
17
Have the gates of death been uncovered to you? Or have you beheld the gates of death-shadow?
18
Have you discerned the breadths of the earth? Declare, if you know all of it.
19
Where is the Way in which light dwells? And darkness—where is its place,
20
that you should take it to its boundary and discern the paths to its house?
21
You know, for you were born then, and the number of your days is great!
22
Have you entered the storehouses of snow? Or have you beheld the storehouses of hail,
23
which I have reserved for a time of distress, for a day of battle and war?
24
Where is the Way by which light is divided, or the east wind scattered over the earth?
25
Who divided a channel for the flood, or a Way for the lightning of thunders,
26
to cause rain on a land where no ish is, a wilderness in which no Adam dwells,
27
to satisfy waste and desolation and cause the source of tender grass to spring forth?
28
Does the rain have a father? Or who brought forth the drops of dew?
29
From whose womb came the ice? And who gave birth to the frost of the heavens?
30
The waters hide themselves like stone, and the face of the deep binds together.
31
Can you bind the delights of Kimah, or loosen the cords of Kesil?
32
Can you bring forth Mazzarot in its appointed time, or guide Ayish with her sons?
33
Do you know the statutes of the heavens? Can you set their dominion in the earth?
34
Can you lift your voice to the cloud, so that abundance of waters covers you?
35
Can you send lightning so that they go and say to you, ‘Here we are’?
36
Who placed wisdom in the inward parts, or gave understanding to the mind?
37
Who numbers the clouds in wisdom? And who causes the jars of the heavens to lie down,
38
when dust is poured into a cast mass and clods cling together?
39
Do you hunt prey for the lioness, or fill the appetite of young lions,
40
when they crouch in dens and dwell in a thicket to lie in wait?
41
Who prepares food for the raven when its young cry to El, wandering without food?
