1
And the sons of Yisra’el again did what was evil in the eyes of Yahuah after Ehud died.
2
And Yahuah sold them into the hand of Yavin king of Kena’an, who reigned in Chatzor. And the commander of his host was Sisera, who dwelt in Charoshet-HaGoyim.
3
And the sons of Yisra’el cried out to Yahuah, for he had nine hundred chariots of iron, and he oppressed the sons of Yisra’el with force for twenty years.
4
And Devorah, an ishah, a prophetess, the ishah of Lappidot, was judging Yisra’el at that time.
5
And she sat beneath the palm tree of Devorah, between HaRamah and Beit-El in the hill country of Efrayim, and the sons of Yisra’el went up to her for judgment.
6
And she sent and called Baraq son of Avinoam from Qedesh in Naftali, and said to him, “Has not Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el, commanded: ‘Go and draw toward Mount Tavor, and take with you ten thousand ish from the sons of Naftali and from the sons of Zevulun.
7
And I will draw Sisera, commander of the host of Yavin, toward you at the wadi Qishon, with his chariots and his multitude, and I will give him into your hand’?”
8
And Baraq said to her, “If you go with me, then I will go. But if you do not go with me, I will not go.”
9
And she said, “Going, I will surely go with you. Nevertheless, the glory shall not be yours upon the way that you are going, for into the hand of an ishah Yahuah will sell Sisera.” And Devorah rose and went with Baraq to Qedesh.
10
And Baraq called Zevulun and Naftali to Qedesh, and ten thousand ish went up at his feet, and Devorah went up with him.
11
And Chever the Qeini had separated himself from Qayin, from the sons of Chovav father-in-law of Mosheh, and had pitched his tent as far as the oak of Tzaanannim, which is near Qedesh.
12
And they declared to Sisera that Baraq son of Avinoam had gone up to Mount Tavor.
13
And Sisera called together all his chariots, nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people who were with him, from Charoshet-HaGoyim to the wadi Qishon.
14
And Devorah said to Baraq, “Rise, for this is the day in which Yahuah has given Sisera into your hand. Has not Yahuah gone out before your face?” And Baraq went down from Mount Tavor with ten thousand ish after him.
15
And Yahuah threw Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host into confusion by the mouth of the sword before Baraq. And Sisera came down from upon his chariot and fled on his feet.
16
And Baraq pursued after the chariots and after the host as far as Charoshet-HaGoyim, and all the host of Sisera fell by the mouth of the sword. Not even one remained.
17
But Sisera fled on his feet to the tent of Yael, ishah of Chever the Qeini, for there was peace between Yavin king of Chatzor and the house of Chever the Qeini.
18
And Yael went out to meet Sisera and said to him, “Turn aside, my master, turn aside to me. Do not fear.” And he turned aside to her into the tent, and she covered him with a covering.
19
And he said to her, “Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty.” And she opened a skin of milk and gave him drink, and covered him.
20
And he said to her, “Stand at the entrance of the tent, and it shall be, if an ish comes and asks you and says, ‘Is there an ish here?’ then you shall say, ‘There is not.’”
21
And Yael, ishah of Chever, took a tent peg and placed a hammer in her hand, and went to him quietly, and drove the peg into his temple, and it went down into the earth. And he had fallen into deep sleep and was weary. And he died.
22
And see, Baraq was pursuing Sisera, and Yael went out to meet him and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the ish whom you seek.” And he came in to her, and see, Sisera had fallen dead, with the peg in his temple.
23
And Elohim subdued on that day Yavin king of Kena’an before the sons of Yisra’el.
24
And the hand of the sons of Yisra’el went on, becoming harder and harder against Yavin king of Kena’an, until they had cut off Yavin king of Kena’an.
