1
Why, Yahuah, do You stand far away? Why do You hide in times of distress?
2
In pride the wicked hotly pursues the afflicted. Let them be caught in the devices they devised.
3
For the wicked boasts in the desire of his being; he blesses the greedy and despises Yahuah.
4
In the height of his face the wicked does not seek; “There is no Elohim” is all his scheme.
5
His ways are strong at all times. Your Judgments are high, beyond his sight; he snorts at all his adversaries.
6
He says in his heart, “I shall not be moved; from generation to generation I shall not be in evil.”
7
His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and oppression; beneath his tongue are trouble and crookedness.
8
He sits in the ambush of settlements; in hidden places he kills the innocent. His eyes secretly watch the helpless.
9
He lies in wait in secrecy like a lion in its thicket; he lies in wait to seize the afflicted. He seizes the afflicted, drawing him into his net.
10
He crouches and bows down, and the helpless fall by his strength.
11
He says in his heart, “El has forgotten. He has hidden His face. He will never see.”
12
Arise, Yahuah! El, lift Your hand! Do not forget the afflicted.
13
Why has the wicked despised Elohim? He says in his heart, “You will not require it.”
14
You have seen, for You behold trouble and grief, to repay it by Your hand. The helpless entrusts himself to You; You are the Helper of the fatherless.
15
Break the arm of the wicked and evil one. Seek out his wickedness until You find none.
16
Yahuah is King forever and ever; nations have perished from His land.
17
The desire of the afflicted You have heard, Yahuah. You establish their heart; You incline Your ear,
18
to judge the fatherless and the crushed, so that mortal enosh of the earth terrifies no more.
