1
To the Overseer, with stringed instruments. A Maskiyl of Daviyd.
2
Give ear to my prayer, Elohim, and do not hide from my supplication.
3
Attend to me and answer me. I wander in my complaint and roar
4
because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked; for they bring trouble down upon me, and in anger they bear hostility against me.
5
My heart writhes within me, and terrors of death have fallen upon me.
6
Fear and trembling enter me, and horror covers me.
7
I say, “Who would give me a wing like the dove? I would fly away and rest.
8
See, I would wander far away; I would lodge in the wilderness. Selah.
9
I would hurry to my refuge from the rushing ruach, from the storm.”
10
Swallow them, Adonai; divide their tongue, for I see violence and strife in the city.
11
Day and night they circle upon its walls; trouble and labor are within it.
12
Destruction is within it; oppression and deceit do not depart from its street.
13
For it is not an enemy reproaching me, or I could bear it; it is not one hating me magnifying himself against me, or I could hide from him.
14
But it is you, an enosh my equal, my companion and my familiar friend.
15
Together we made intimate counsel sweet; in the House of Elohim we walked with the multitude.
16
Let death seize them; let them descend alive to Sheol, for evils are in their dwelling and within them.
17
As for me, I call to Elohim, and Yahuah saves me.
18
Evening and morning and noon I complain and roar, and He hears my voice.
19
He redeems my being in shalom from the battle against me, for many were against me.
20
El hears and answers them— He who sits from ancient time. Selah. Because they have no changes, they do not revere Elohim.
21
He sent his hands against those at shalom with him; he profaned his Covenant.
22
The butter of his mouth was smooth, but battle was in his heart. His words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.
23
Cast your burden upon Yahuah, and He sustains you. He never allows the righteous to be moved.
24
But You, Elohim, bring them down to the pit of decay; men of blood and deceit do not reach half their days. But I trust in You.
