1
To the Overseer, upon Shoshanniym. Of Daviyd.
2
Save me, Elohim, for waters have entered as far as my being.
3
I sink in deep mire, and there is no standing place; I enter depths of waters, and a flood sweeps over me.
4
I am weary from calling; my throat is scorched. My eyes fail while waiting for my Elohim.
5
Those hating me without cause are more than hairs of my head. Those silencing me—my false enemies—are strong. What I did not steal, I then return.
6
Elohim, You know my foolishness, and my guilt is not hidden from You.
7
Let those waiting for You not be ashamed through me, Adonai Yahuah of Hosts. Let those seeking You not be humiliated through me, Elohim of Yisra’el.
8
For because of You I bear reproach; humiliation covers my face.
9
I have become a stranger to my brothers and a foreigner to the sons of my mother.
10
For zeal for Your House has consumed me, and the reproaches of those reproaching You have fallen upon me.
11
I wept in fasting of my being, and it became reproach to me.
12
I set sackcloth as my garment, and became a proverb to them.
13
Those sitting in the gate speak against me, and I am songs of those drinking strong drink.
14
But as for me, my prayer is to You, Yahuah, in a time of favor. Elohim, in the abundance of Your covenant-love, answer me in the Truth of Your Salvation.
15
Rescue me from mire and do not let me sink; let me be rescued from those hating me and from depths of waters.
16
Do not let a flood of waters sweep over me, or the deep swallow me, or the pit close its mouth over me.
17
Answer me, Yahuah, for Your covenant-love is good; according to the abundance of Your compassions, turn to me.
18
Do not hide Your face from Your servant, for I am distressed; hurry, answer me.
19
Draw near to my being; redeem it. Because of my enemies, ransom me.
20
You know my reproach, my shame, and my humiliation; all my adversaries are before You.
21
Reproach has broken my heart, and I am sick. I waited for one to show sympathy, but there was none; for comforters, but I found none.
22
They gave gall as my food, and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
23
Let their table before them become a snare, and their shalom a trap.
24
Let their eyes darken from seeing, and make their loins continually shake.
25
Pour Your indignation upon them, and let the burning of Your anger overtake them.
26
Let their enclosure become desolate; let none dwell in their tents.
27
For they pursue the one You struck, and recount the pain of those You wounded.
28
Add crookedness to their crookedness, and do not let them enter Your Righteousness.
29
Let them be blotted from the Sefer of Life, and not be written with the righteous.
30
But I am afflicted and in pain; let Your Salvation, Elohim, set me securely on high.
31
I praise the Name of Elohim with song and magnify Him with thanksgiving.
32
This is better to Yahuah than an ox, a bull with horn and divided hoof.
33
The afflicted see and rejoice. You who seek Elohim, let your heart live.
34
For Yahuah hears the needy and does not despise His prisoners.
35
Let heavens and earth praise Him, seas and all moving within them.
36
For Elohim saves Tziyon and builds the cities of Yehudah; they dwell there and possess it.
37
The seed of His servants inherits it, and those loving His Name dwell in it.
