1
“And you, son of Adam, take for yourself a brick and place it before your face, and engrave upon it a city—Yerushalayim.
2
And place a siege against it, and build a siege wall against it, and cast up a mound against it. And place camps against it, and set battering rams against it all around.
3
And you, take for yourself an iron plate and set it as an iron wall between you and the city. And establish your face against it, and it shall be under siege, and you shall besiege it. This shall be a sign to the House of Yisra’el.
4
And you, lie upon your left side, and place the crookedness of the House of Yisra’el upon it. According to the number of the days that you lie upon it, you shall bear their crookedness.
5
And I have appointed to you the years of their crookedness according to the number of days: three hundred and ninety days. And you shall bear the crookedness of the House of Yisra’el.
6
And when you have completed these, lie again upon your right side, and bear the crookedness of the House of Yehudah forty days. A day for a year, a day for a year, I have appointed to you.
7
And toward the siege of Yerushalayim you shall establish your face, and your arm shall be uncovered. And you shall prophesy against it.
8
And see, I will place cords upon you, and you shall not turn yourself from one side to the other until you have completed the days of your siege.
9
And you, take for yourself wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and spelt. And place them in one vessel, and make them into bread for yourself. According to the number of the days that you lie upon your side—three hundred and ninety days—you shall eat it.
10
And your food that you eat shall be by weight, twenty sheqels for a day. From time to time you shall eat it.
11
And water you shall drink by measure, a sixth of a hin. From time to time you shall drink.
12
And as a barley cake you shall eat it. And upon dung of Adam you shall bake it before their eyes.”
13
And Yahuah said: “Thus shall the sons of Yisra’el eat their bread unclean among the nations where I will drive them.”
14
And I said: “Ah, Adonai Yahuah! See, my being has not been made unclean. And from my youth until now I have not eaten what died of itself or what was torn by beasts, and flesh made abominable has not entered my mouth.”
15
And He said to me: “See, I have given you cattle dung in place of dung of Adam, and you shall make your bread upon it.”
16
And He said to me: “Son of Adam, see, I am breaking the staff of bread in Yerushalayim. And they shall eat bread by weight and with anxiety, and water by measure and in horror they shall drink,
17
so that they may lack bread and water, and be desolated, each ish with his brother, and waste away in their crookedness.”
