1
And Yehoshua rose early in the morning, and they journeyed from Shittim and came to the Yarden, he and all the sons of Yisra’el, and they lodged there before they crossed over.
2
And it came to pass at the end of three days that the officers passed through the midst of the camp,
3
and they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ark of the covenant of Yahuah your Elohim, and the kohenim, the Leviim, carrying it, then you shall journey from your place and go after it.
4
Yet there shall be a distance between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Do not draw near to it, so that you may know the way by which you shall go, for you have not passed by this way before.”
5
And Yehoshua said to the people, “Set yourselves apart, for tomorrow Yahuah will do wonders in your midst.”
6
And Yehoshua spoke to the kohenim, saying, “Lift up the ark of the covenant and cross over before the face of the people.” And they lifted up the ark of the covenant and went before the face of the people.
7
And Yahuah said to Yehoshua, “This day I will begin to make you great in the eyes of all Yisra’el, so that they may know that as I was with Mosheh, so I will be with you.
8
And you shall command the kohenim who carry the ark of the covenant, saying, ‘When you come to the edge of the waters of the Yarden, you shall stand still in the Yarden.’”
9
And Yehoshua said to the sons of Yisra’el, “Draw near here and hear the words of Yahuah your Elohim.”
10
And Yehoshua said, “By this you shall know that the living El is in your midst, and dispossessing, He will surely dispossess from before your face the Kena’ani, and the Chitti, and the Chivvi, and the Perizzi, and the Girgashi, and the Emori, and the Yevusi.
11
See, the ark of the covenant of the Master of all the earth is crossing before your face into the Yarden.
12
And now take for yourselves twelve men from the tribes of Yisra’el, one ish from each tribe.
13
And it shall be, when the soles of the feet of the kohenim who carry the ark of Yahuah, Master of all the earth, come to rest in the waters of the Yarden, that the waters of the Yarden shall be cut off—the waters coming down from above—and they shall stand as one heap.”
14
And it came to pass, when the people journeyed from their tents to cross the Yarden, with the kohenim carrying the ark of the covenant before the face of the people,
15
and when those carrying the ark came to the Yarden, and the feet of the kohenim carrying the ark were dipped at the edge of the water—for the Yarden overflows all its banks all the days of harvest—
16
then the waters coming down from above stood and rose up as one heap, exceedingly far away, at Adam, the city beside Tzaretan; and those flowing down toward the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. And the people crossed over opposite Yericho.
17
And the kohenim carrying the ark of the covenant of Yahuah stood firm upon dry ground in the midst of the Yarden, while all Yisra’el crossed over upon dry ground, until all the nation had completely crossed the Yarden.
