1
And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Emori who were beyond the Yarden toward the west, and all the kings of the Kena’ani who were by the sea, heard that Yahuah had dried up the waters of the Yarden from before the sons of Yisra’el until we had crossed over, that their heart melted, and there was no longer any ruach in them because of the sons of Yisra’el.
2
At that time Yahuah said to Yehoshua, “Make for yourself knives of flint, and return—circumcise the sons of Yisra’el a second time.”
3
And Yehoshua made for himself knives of flint and circumcised the sons of Yisra’el at Giv’at-HaAralot.
4
And this is the reason Yehoshua circumcised them: all the people who came out from Mitzrayim, the males, all the men of war, had died in the wilderness on the way after they came out from Mitzrayim.
5
For all the people who came out had been circumcised, but all the people born in the wilderness on the way after they came out from Mitzrayim had not been circumcised.
6
For forty years the sons of Yisra’el walked in the wilderness, until all the nation, the men of war who came out from Mitzrayim, were consumed, because they did not listen to the voice of Yahuah, to whom Yahuah swore that He would not show them the land that Yahuah had sworn to their fathers to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.
7
And their sons He raised up in their place. These Yehoshua circumcised, for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them on the way.
8
And it came to pass, when all the nation had finished being circumcised, that they remained in their places in the camp until they were healed.
9
And Yahuah said to Yehoshua, “Today I have rolled away the reproach of Mitzrayim from upon you.” And the name of that place was called Gilgal to this day.
10
And the sons of Yisra’el encamped at Gilgal, and they prepared the Pesach on the fourteenth day of the month, in the evening, in the plains of Yericho.
11
And they ate from the produce of the land on the day after the Pesach: unleavened bread and roasted grain, on that same day.
12
And the Man ceased on the day after they ate from the produce of the land, and there was no longer Man for the sons of Yisra’el. And they ate from the produce of the land of Kena’an in that year.
13
And it came to pass, when Yehoshua was near Yericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and see, an ish was standing opposite him with his sword drawn in his hand. And Yehoshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?”
14
And he said, “No. But I am commander of the host of Yahuah; now I have come.” And Yehoshua fell upon his face to the earth and bowed himself, and said to him, “What does my master speak to his servant?”
15
And the commander of the host of Yahuah said to Yehoshua, “Remove your sandal from upon your foot, for the place upon which you stand is holy.” And Yehoshua did so.
